Do you have internet banking?

If so you set up a one off or occasional payment

CarolinaFullMoon · 13/10/2005 18:17

it's a payment that takes 3 days to go from your account (on day 1) to the other account (on day 3). There isn't usually a fee for it.

If you do it online, there should be a "make a payment" option or similar on your online banking page. Otherwise, go into a branch and see one of the personal bankers about it.

Could I do it with telephone banking? Or is it just via the web. I've had an Invoice today and it says payment due before Monday. If I did BACS would it be?
Thanks

Yes it's any electronic transfer of money. You could telephone, do it online or even go in the bank. It might make it before Monday but not definitely. There is a way you can do an instant electronic transfer (chaps) but it costs a fair bit so no good unless it's very urgent.

so fri, mon & tues at the earliest

BACS (banks automated clearing system) is really just something used by companies paying loads of invoices (or for example paying loads of employees). BACS payments are normally made in large batches and processed as a file at the company's end (normally linked to the bank).

Are you a company?

This invoice you need to pay - has it got their bank details on it?

whimsywhoo · 13/10/2005 18:41

No, it's a booking I've made for a number of people. I do have the bank account number, sort code ect.

I do lots as it's reasonably easy to do on-line or over the phone

To alsorts of places (esp peeps who don't take cards eg very small businesses)

It's just a term (BACS) really.

If you want to do it quickly, just phone your bank and ask them what they suggest to get it done the quickest (for the least charge!). If you've got internet banking, you can do it online (normally in the 3rd party/bill payment bit).
