Hi

I'll try keep this brief, before i met dh he was involved in a car accident. He didn't realise his insurance had been cancelled as they never received his no claims letter from his previous insurers. the accident was deemed his fault.
this happened nearly 7 years ago.
We have received a letter from mib today we have got 7 days to pay £18775, which they had paid out in compensation.
my dh lost his job last year and has retrained as a plumber. He started as self employed at the beginning of jan but as of yet he's not earning much. I work fulltime but my wage only just covers the mortgage and childcare bill. We have no savings as they were used up last year when he was unemployed. We have had our house up for sale for months with only 1 viewing and we have just dropped the price, which would leave us about 15 grand if it sold for the asking price now.
Weve got phone them on monday to see what will happen. We just dont know whats going to happen. Any advice would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks

I don't have any experience of the situation you are in, but I think you should get straight down to your local Citizens Advice Bureau as soon as possible. They give free advice on legal matters and I would think they would help in this situation.

Find your local office here.

Good luck.
