Anyone or know of anyone that has sold their house privately on the internet?

Am appalled by the commission the estate agents charge.
Is it still in its infancy using private interent sites?
I'd love to be able to advertise privately on rightmove.

If you put your house on The little house company it goes on propertyfinder but not rightmove iirc.We put our flat on with them and were inundated with replies but referred them to a local agent in the end as it was getting complicated but wish we had stuck with it as the fees were astronomical and the agents did nothing. We may be selling again soon-ish and are considering it There is also a site called houseladder dot co dot uk who are meant to be good xx

Thanks Noddy had a look at propertyladder - will look at littlehouse too.
Don't know if I am brave enough to go for it.

We sold our house in London through the Little House Co. We only used the cheaper service so were not on Right Move etc. because at the time we were also on the market with an agent. We ended up having a tremendous row aith our agent, who we found out had been lying to us about all sorts - the bonus of selling online is you find out from viewers, by accident, what the agent has been making up...Anyway we sold privately having terminated our contract with the aGENT (NOT EASY), and would thoroughly recommend the company. Our friends also sold through them and other friends are now on the market through them. I would recommend getting a board made though. Our friends who are currently selling privately through Little House have one (made up locally with their mob. no. on it) and they get lots of people stopping and looking and writing the no. down and also lots of interest from people who happen to be viewing other properties on the street which are for sale through estate agents. I think anything that can be done to prevent estate agents getting their hands on far too much money for far too little effort can only be a good thing. Phew, feel better for a morning rant about estate agents..
