I am trying to log on to the government gateway site to do my self assessment but I have asked for 3 new passwords and it is not letting me log on. It keeps telling me I have entered incorrectly. Is there some obscure way that you have to type it in as I have no idea. tia

Try copying and pasting.

MarshaBrady · 09/01/2011 08:58

Is your user number correct?
Or ring the helpline tomorrow.

DelGirl · 09/01/2011 09:03

as far as I know the user id is correct and current as I assume they wouldn't have sent through the new passwords if not Confused. I could try cut and paste but i'm certain I have tyoed it correctly.

I have quite a few written on the letter from last year so I think I may have had the same trouble then. I have checked the help page and it doesn't help Grin

thanks

It is surprisingly easy to speak to a person. I found them very helpful, good luck

I am half way through mine you have reminded me I haven't finished!

DelGirl · 09/01/2011 09:11

Guess I will have to call them then. Why oh why is it so hard to log on, I don't get it, it's not as if anyone would want to do someone elses return surely to ..........

Try it in a different browser. Helps sometimes.

DelGirl · 09/01/2011 09:23

tried that, thanks though Smile I really have no idea why it's not working, I have tried each and every way of entering the details. I suppose I just should forget about it for today and get on with the housework.

I'm having the same problem, last year was the first year I did SA and I saved my logon details to my computers passwords wallet.

After seeing this thread I thought I'd better check mine. None of them work and have spent ages trying to sort it to no avail.

I'll have to ring them tomorrow Hmm

it is rubbish isn't it?!
