if anyone can help that would be great- we want to buy a place for us when we come back to the UK and rent it out til we do. how do I do that from abroad, just contact any mortgage broker? am worried because we not in uk and want to rent just get a buy to let first we might struggle - are there any tax implications? thanks!

We used Bellwood Prestbury, google them for contact details. Very helpful and professional. A few friends have used them too. Good luck, our options are really quite limited...

We were not able to do it while we were abroad. We've had to wait until we come back. The banks want a minimum of 3 months salary proven into a bank account, your UK contract of employment as well as loads of other stuff from Australia (not quite sure why they wanted that). We've also had to wait to get back on the electoral register which is updated on 1 December.

I think your options will be severely restricted or possibly nil.
