heres the stats!:
live in a 1bed flat in london, have both gas and electricity with british gas at the moment but have just worked out that gas was 380 this last annum and electric 260. this seems incredibly high! spurred into action by hearing of the 14% price increase thats coming, does anyone know of a good servicing alternative company. energy searches i have done seem to imply that atlantic or scottish power would be good providers for me to get better value. any experience of these companies? worried that i'll switch supplier and end up with some horror company!

We switched to scottish power 2 years ago. Its very difficult to say if they are cheaper as prices have risen so much recently. The service is fine though ,no problems. I went on the wbsite u switch - sorry dont know full URL- before swicthing and that said scot power was one of the cheapest then.

Look on the u switch website. We check regularly to see what will work out cheaper for us.

According to the Money Saving Expert now is not the best time to switch. All of the fuel suppliers are due to up their prices over the next few weeks/months and sites like uswitch are very likely to give false information. Hold fire for another month or two then you can be sure you're getting real savings.
