Can anyone tell me how much a passport for an adult cost these days?

i had to apply for one last week. its £42 and if you want the post office to check it, its another £5 and you get it back in 2 weeks apparently

I recommend applying online at the ukpa.gov.uk . What you do is basically fill in the form online and they print it out and post it to you (when I did this, I filled in the form late afternoon and received it the next morning). You sign it, get it countersigned and sort out your photos. Because the data is already entered on their computer, they get the passport back to you in a matter of days.
