The new list of the 10 most popular Christmas gifts is due out soon. How do you feel about the pressure you are put under to buy " the latest" gift.

I'm a mum who runs a website helping parents to teach their kids about money and saving and am going on the BBC Breakfast show tomorrow morning (wednesday 27th October) so will be really interested to hear what you have to say. Am on facebook and twitter @erbcoach or Emma Ranson Bellamy if you want to keep in touch through the day and have an opinion you wish to share

The best thing to do is ban childrens tv btw now and Xmas so they don't get their hopes up!

Sorry to disappoint but I don't get put under any pressure. There's just one major item my son (10) has asked for this Christmas and I honestly don't know or particularly care if it's on some 'must have' list or not. Then again, we often have conversations about 'value for money' & how the actual product often doesn't match up to the hard sell TV ad. Have fun on the Breakfast show!

I could not believe it when I watched Milkshake (Channel 5 kids TV) on Saturday morning. There were a huge number of Peppa Pig toy adverts - dd and I counted 7 in one ad break! It was interspersed Peppa with Fireman Sam.
My dd asked for a particular toy a few months back which I said she could ask for for Xmas. Any time she sees something and asks for it I ask if she wants that or the original thing. She still says the original thing and has now stopped asking for other things. I hope it will teach her limits and realistic expectations and give her an idea of deciding on best value?! Have set her a deadline of mid Nov and after that she will def not be allowed to change her mind!
