Hello,
I have come on here for hope that someone can offer some help and advice.

I have a friend who son's school gives out information to the non resident parent.

My friends relationship with her partner ended quite some years ago. There is no parental responsiblity aggreement in place. He has not contributed to his life at all.He has not had contact with his son or made any attempt to up untill recent and that was by chance. My friends son has autism and because of this chance meeting with his father my friend felt it important to mention it to the school incase there were suddern behaviour patterns happening. The school has now decided that it is important to pass on all information to him as he is a parent. This is against my freinds wishes. My friend has been in a battle with the school protesting that she does not agree with this and thats then she found out the if her ex was to turn up at the school and take his son the school will be breaking the law by denying him access to his child. Surely this is not correct? They have told her that she can prevent this by obtaining an order??

I have searched the internet for advise about this and I too have had dealings with parental responsiblity agreements so I know the jist of it but what order is required to stop him from taking his child and if anyone can offer any advice/websites then this will be very much appreciated.

Many thanks
Kel

I hate to say it but it sounds very similiar to what i have been told.My ds has autism and is in a specialist unit, the head teacher insists she must send reports to ex-p as well as me unless i provide information that otherwise prevents this.Donyt know bout the turning up and taking him as he is transported anyway so wouldnt be allowed to be taken out the school without prior notice by myself.I got round this when ex moved house and i dont ave his new address so they cant send anything now.Ex also doesnt have any pr or contact with my kids.

Cheers for the reply, its a real shame that my mate and you have this to contend with. The law sometime don't make sense. Given that a father need to apply fro PR to have a say in health, education and religion yet, the school seems to overide all this by giving him the very information thats in all fairness he has no right too. What is the point of PR?? Whats the point of giving the info to the father if he can't actually act on this without PR.. don't make sence. I also feel that they seem to confuse it with the new law change about PR automatically being given to all fathers of children born on or after "X" date. I duon't know, I will have to keep searching.
Thanks anyway
Kel
