surestart maternity grant

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone can tell me when the cut off date for the sure start maternity grant for a second baby is.

I know that it ends in April 2011. However, is this just it ending. It can be claimed from 29 weeks pregnancy and I will be 29 weeks pregnant on 28 March 2011 and at present would qualify for the grant. Will I still be able to claim it or do they just stop it completely from April?

If you baby is being born in April or later then you won't qualify I don't think.

I thought it was January that they were stopping it? But I coud be wrong, I usually am.

5 I think that is when you can stop claiming. I know I can claim it if I want to, and I scrape in by about a week - my due date is 26th March.
I am thinking I won't claim it though, I didn't get it with DS and it was a silly thing for the gov to bring in in the first place when the country couldn't really afford it.

For the Health in Pregancy Grant (£190), you need to be 25wks pg by 1st Jan 2011 to qualify for the payment, but I'm not sure if the same applies to the Sure Start Grant. I found the info here.

What LittleNutTree says is correct, but in simpler terms, if you are due in 15th April 2011 or before, you should get it. Any later, you won't.

Whoops, just realized I'm thinking of the Health in Preganacy Grant, not Surestart. Still, it might be useful..............
