We need to get a large bankers draft from our bank to pay solicitors for our the purchase of our house around 36K. Do we need to give the bank notice for this or will they do it there and then? We want to exchange in a couple of days?

It is less hassle to get the money transferred via CHAPS. There will be a charge for this but probably no more than getting a bankers draft and they should be able to do the transfer the same day. Call your bank and ask.

If you arrange it in advance you can get a BACS transfer from your bank some banks are on faster pay so is same day others takes 3 days and BACs is usually free.
If you have online banking you can split it into 4 lumps less than £10,000 and do it yourself.
