just moving house and need to get phone and broadband sorted. BT have an offer on at the moment and I figure I have heard so many bad things about other companies (virgin/orange/talktalk etc) and not many bad things about BT that we should just go with them even if not the cheapest..
but any horror/lovely stories?
cheers Smile

ps if you have a recommendation for gas and elec supplier then do let me know who they are too!

We have O2 and they have been very good on the whole (had a problem when we moved as BT exchange was full and they had to wire us in a different way which took a while to sort and wasn't really their fault anyway). Their customer service is excellent and fast broadband up to 20meg with 3 months free, plus if you have an O2 phone (or know someone you trust whose number you can give) it is £10 a month rather than £15 for premium service.

thanks Smile they are a good bit cheaper than BT according to moneysupermarket so thats good. Is the premium service a better class of service?!

I have bad experience with them so far. If you will not have unlimited option they will force you by saying that you have overusage till you move to unlimited one or other choice pay 250 for cancellation. I will stick with them till end of contract and never again do any business with them

I found BT fine when we were with them just expensive. Although when I had said we were leaving them, we suddenly had problems with our broadband Hmm.

We use plusnet and am very happy with them.

No problems here with BT. Probably could get someone else with less but BT are the easy option and have NEVER has a single problem. Other seem to have problems with their ISP.

We swapped to BT not long ago as virgin put our broadband fee up.Didn't have any problems with virgin.

We had a problem with our BT broadband not long after we took out the contract and they were quite frankly rubbish at solving it.

Their helpline is based in India and while the people you ring are polite and apparently trying to help they are obviously just reading from a script of set questions and unable to fix things.

After several days of no connection and answering the same questions each time we rang to several operatives dh insisted he wouldn't explain the same thing any more (which was difficult in itself) and that we be put on to an engineer in the UK.

Connection was back on within an hour.

We'll be swapping as soon as our contract is up.

we have it and it's fine. the call centres have always been helpful and referred us on if necessary. nothing exciting to report as it's always been pretty much problem free

My mother had a TERRIBLE experience w BT. After a few months with NO broadband (despite ENDLESS irritating calls with customer services etc), she cancelled her contract, and basically challenged them to accuse her of breach of contract.

(They didn't)

Steam still comes out of her ears if you mention BT. She is w plusnet now and LOVES them. Has just moved house and thinks they are fab....
