Insurance for childrens party!!?

Also posted this in 'Parties' topic but don't know if anyone will spot it! So here goes...

I've hired a church hall for DS's 3rd birthday party and now I'm told we need to arrange insurance for the party. I'm waiting for the paperwork to come through from the church because I almost can't believe I heard right, I'm surprised they don't have blanket insurance for all the groups that use the hall included in the hire price - but in the meantime, has anyone ever had a similar situation and have ANY idea who might be a good provider of such insurance? Even my home insurance provider (CIS) was surprised.

Thanks in anticipation!

We have hired lots of village halls but never heard of this.

What sort of party were you planning? Make your own explosives?? Grin

I've never had to arrange insurance at the halls we've used - that sounds madness!

Sorry for delay in replying - I'd never heard of this either, although it's our first time organising a party. The contract actually just recommends getting insurance, so maybe we'll just end up leaving it... there will only be around 10 children in total, and all will have parent/s there with them. So long as risk is minimised (eg no children in the kitchen) I guess we should be OK.

Just to say I've also booked a church hall for DH's birthday party and they also recommend I take out insurance!

They say they can ask to see it a few weeks before the event..........
