Insurance for jewellery

I have had some quite reasonable quotes for contents insurance but the quote rockets as soon as I need to add my Mothers engagement ring which she left me, the value of the ring is over 7k.

Anyone have any recommendations of who to try.

I have my engagement ring and wedding ring insured with the co-op and they just charge an additional amount for them as seperate items rather than increasing the whole premium. We just had to send in the valuation documents as proof of the value as they are over £1500 each.

Im not sure of the BEST, but for single items, you should get it appraised by a licensed jewelry appraiser only. Appraisal is mandatory for effective coverage.

If you get an offer to insure without the appraisal, you can bet the coverage is lacking somewhere...
