another tax credits question

I'm working part-time and also studying for an MSc. DP works and gets about 30k pa. I only earn 4.5k a year and this combined means we don't get any tax credits.

My question is if I stopped working so as to be able to complete my masters quicker would we then be eligible for any tax credits?

If you go on the hmrc website there is a tax calculator where you can play about with figures to see how much you would get.
