OK, if I can get enough people interested, I'm starting another book club. As books and people seem to go missing too easily, this book club features no posting at all!

Here are the rules...

  1. One book per month chosen in turn by members. We all read the same book each month -- a week or two's notice will be given to get it from Amazon or the library. So your own fault if you don't take it back in time and get overdue fines!
  1. One thread per month discussing that book
  1. Books to be a maximum of 350 pages so no excuses for not finishing!
  1. No mis-lit and no chick-lit, otherwise any book from any genre is welcome!

If enough people sign up quickly then we will start in JULY but new folks can always join along the way.

Anyone with me?

I have finished Black Swan Green and "thank you" to MegBusset for suggesting it as I would not have chosen it myself! I wont make any comments on it until others have finished as I don't want to spoil it for anyone!!
Meg - I have been looking at some books to possibly suggest for future reading and they range in size from 422 pages to 455 pages so am wondering if 350 pages will limit our choices?
How is everyone else getting on?

wendyhappysmile · 11/08/2010 08:13

Hi all
I also got a new copy from the library, going to take the book on hols - I would never have chosen it either.
See you in a couple of weeks!

ElectricSoftParade · 11/08/2010 12:50

Hello Everyone, please may I join in? Reading is one of my biggest pleasures and would love to discuss our reads ESP

MegBusset · 11/08/2010 21:44

Hello and welcome newbies :)

I'm really enjoying the book and hope everyone else is too, looking forward to discussing it!

Hi meg

I would love to join in for the next book that's due to start on 1 September if possible?

Thanks!

meala · 13/08/2010 23:54

Hi there
Can I join too please? I'm always keen to find new books to read and have never been part of a book group before.

Thanks

androbbob · 16/08/2010 23:23

Wel I have read it - where do we 'talk' about it?

bourboncreme · 16/08/2010 23:28

I've finished too and was wondering. The same!

Jas · 17/08/2010 12:06

I've read it, too even though I said I wasn't going to join.

MegBusset · 17/08/2010 19:42

Well done finishers, I'm still about halfway through Blush because I got distracted by Big Brother! Would one of you like to start the discussion thread, because I don't want to accidentally see any spoilers on 'Threads I'm On'?

OP posts:
bourboncreme · 19/08/2010 22:22

Do we start the thread in this topic or in the discussion topic?

MegBusset · 22/08/2010 22:01

Andi has started a discussion thread here

If anyone wants to suggest a book for September please can they CAT me in the next couple of days, ta :)

bump

I still need September suggestions everyone!

OP posts:
gailforce1 · 27/08/2010 17:13

These are on my seemingly never decreasing "to read" pile - I read one and add two!!

The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd (374 pages)

Starter for Ten by David Nicolls (469 pages)

The Help by Katherine Stockett (44 pages)

I am sure that everyone else must have loads of suggestions - when are you going to make a final decision Meg?

MegBusset · 01/09/2010 21:12

OK it's September so time for a new book!

As Gailforce1 has given some great ideas, let's go for the top one on her list

The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd

Start now/whenever you can get hold of it... finish by the end of September!

(And come over to the discussion thread to talk about Black Swan Green, those who haven't already!)
