A Master thread for all our general stuff .

OP posts:
JackBauer · 07/09/2009 15:43

Lightshines, it hasn't got lost in the post as it ony made it into the post this morning
I was fully intending to post it but then I had to read it one more time in case it went awol as it is a replacement to the replacement to the original book from madamy
Should be with you tomorrow with any luck as I sent it first class.

LightShinesInTheDarkness · 07/09/2009 16:51

Hey, JackBauer - no problems at all. I don't mind, I was just wondering if I needed to pop down to the Post Office.

Looking forward to the surprise!

caykon · 08/09/2009 10:45

treacle - I have to apologise to you as I told you dh had posted the book last tuesday. I found out last night that this isnt the case.
I asked him to post it last tuesday to which he agreed and took the package with him. When he got home I asked if he had posted it , which he replied of course. When last night I mentioned it hadnt arrived yet, he looked a little sheepish. So I asked again when or if it had been posted. He said he kept forgetting and finally remembered yesterday and to top if off he didnt even have the comman sense to send it first class.
Really sorry, in future I will make sure I post the book, obviously it is too challenging a task for my dh.

steamedtreaclesponge · 08/09/2009 11:19

Don't worry, Caykon - at least I know it hasn't got lost in the post!

MoominMymbleandMy · 08/09/2009 17:12

You know, Caykon, I had my suspicions when you said your DH posted it. I am always laughing at mine for returning home accompanied by the letters or packages he had faithfully promised to post.

caykon · 08/09/2009 18:21

moomin I just can't believe it has took him a week to post. Next month I am going to make sure I post it myself as it a rather lengthy book and would hate to give treacle the disadvantage of limited time to read it.
I think they do it on purpose so that you don't ask them again.

MoominMymbleandMy · 08/09/2009 18:29

You could be right there, Caykon. My DH's best was going out just for the purpose of posting a card in a letterbox 10 yards from our holiday cottage.

He found the card in his jacket a fortnight after we were back home!

steamedtreaclesponge · 08/09/2009 22:00

It doesn't matter if it's a bit late, Caykon - I'm a fast reader (takes me about an hour to get through the average Agatha Christie) so as long as you don't send it with only a day or so to spare I should be OK!

LightShinesInTheDarkness · 09/09/2009 20:19

Arrived today, JackBauer - thanks.

Thanks too for the little treat, which I ate whilst reading the book. Well, whilst reading the blurb!

JackBauer · 12/09/2009 18:02

Cool, glad the curse appears to have abated for awhile

steamedtreaclesponge · 16/09/2009 11:55

I'm still waiting for mine

Mind you, apparently there's a huge backlog of post sitting around after the strikes, it's probably sitting in a pile on the sorting room floor somewhere...

caykon · 19/09/2009 10:45

treacle has it arrived yet? I asked dh and he said he definately posted it when he said.

LightShinesInTheDarkness · 19/09/2009 16:21

Sorry, am confused (it doesn't take much!)

Just finished my 3rd book - inside cover says 'Jack Bauer's Book' but I don't think it is (as JBs book is TGWTDT and I have read it!)

Could someone explain, please?

steamedtreaclesponge · 20/09/2009 17:51

No, caykon, no sign of it yet...

caykon · 21/09/2009 09:40

If it hasn't arrived in the post today I will order you another copy from amazon and have it sent to your address. If I leave it any longer you won't have time to read it.
Hate postal strikes, I am waiting for no end of parcels.

simpson · 21/09/2009 10:35

finished my book last night

Going to post it on to next person on wed when shopping in town.

steamedtreaclesponge · 21/09/2009 11:50

Blimmin' postmen! I'm still waiting for a few things in the post too so give it a few more days. As I said, I'm a fast reader so unless it's a truly giant tome it shouldn't take me long to get through it. In fact, perhaps you could let me know what it is? There's always a chance I might have a copy at home already...

I'm not cattable but you could drop me an email at

Light - errm yes. The ongoing saga of books lost in the post. Long story short, Jack never got last months book so in order to keep things going she chose a 2nd book to send on. You should MC by JW to send on to me when you've finished? I'll go and start a thread for it now.

OP posts:
LightShinesInTheDarkness · 22/09/2009 13:04

Thanks, Swissmiss. I'll post it to you before the end of the week.

swissmiss · 23/09/2009 10:24

No worries Lightshines...

Now I've just got to get on and finish Jack's original choice within a week . Thought once DS1 had started reception full time I'd have plenty of time for such things, sadly boring jobs like debt chasing DH's clients have to be done first!

OP posts:
LightShinesInTheDarkness · 23/09/2009 10:59

Good luck with the debt-chasing, swissmiss.
Hope you are enjoying JB's first choice - I loved it!

steamedtreaclesponge · 23/09/2009 11:38

Caykon - still no sign of your book, I'm afraid Any chance you could post me another?

caykon · 23/09/2009 14:43

treacle - I have just ordered a replacement from Amazon. It is being sent directly to you so will hopefully arrive soon.

steamedtreaclesponge · 23/09/2009 15:03

Thanks Caykon - such a pain for you! The curse of the Fur Quits strikes again...

caykon · 23/09/2009 15:57

treacle its fine, just hope this one gets to you quickly.
I have arranged a babysitter for saturday as have not had much of a chance to read this month, and need to get this months book read. Hopefully 24hrs without the kids will solve that.
