Hiya

The following people want in:

Autumnlady
Dozymare
TheDrsWife
Bubbaz
Yorky
PinkyMinky

Any more for any more???

I think the sensible way to do it is that each person sends their book to the same person every month to avoind confusion ie:

Autumnlady to Dozymare, Dozymare to DrsWife etc etc

We could do this on a certain day every month such as the 30th or something? I am open to offers on how fast people read etc.

Let me know what you think
xx

DrsWife - A Thousand Splendid Suns - khaled hosseini

Creena · 18/05/2008 10:24

Hullo! Is it too late for me to join in? I really hope not!

What do I need to do? I gather I must email Dozy at the address given on page 1 - is that still the case? Then do I make some suggestions here of books that I can send?

You'll have to excuse my lack of comprehension - am typing this while keeping on eye on DS to make sure that he doesn't start eating the potted plants (again)...

twinklingfairy · 18/05/2008 11:34

I guess it shouldn't be a prob, you would just add yourself to the end of Dozy's list, oh no, but who would you send yours to and who would now send one to you?

I am clearly not thr right person to answer this question, maybe someone else will be along soon.

It is a book swap though, so you just have to choose a favourite book that you would recommend and then send it on. Each of us are doing that and then getting one in return. It will continue in a loop until we recieve our own book back.

Would you have to bring in a friend so that you could just begin by swapping with one another and, next sending date, you join the list?? Or perhaps choose a book you have not read and send on at the next sending date, joining in then??

dozymare · 18/05/2008 12:12

creena I have racked my brains for the last 10 mins and can't see a way that you could join as books have already gone out and been recieved and everyone knows who is sending to and recieving from....

Maybe someone with a bogger brain can work it out??!!!!!

pinkyminky · 18/05/2008 13:43

Could she jump in on the next month's rotation? If we add Creena to the bottom of the list, she could just join in next month? So whoever is currently last sends the next book to Creena, and Creena send her book to Dozy- or is that not right?

pinkyminky · 18/05/2008 13:45

DM is that a boggier brain or a bigger brain?
My DH refers to mine as the sponge at the moment- more for it's squishy qualities than it's retention abilities!

bubbaz · 18/05/2008 14:15

I have a possible - If Doctors wife hasn't posted hers yet she could send it to Creena and Creena could send to me??
It depends whether Doctors wife logs on again today?
What do you think?

pinkyminky · 18/05/2008 14:58

That would work, if Drswife sees this. DM could you maybe email her when you receive creena's details?

dozymare · 19/05/2008 09:46

Morning fellow bookworms!!! I think the best thing is that we wait until next month and then include cricri otherwise it gets to confusing as most of us have sent books and recieved already and Drswife didn't get back on this yesterday....

Cricri is that ok with you?????

DM x

twinklingfairy · 19/05/2008 11:21

Deary me Dozy you do have a boggier brain, it's Creena, not cricri!
haha
I think best to wait until next month too, but, as I suggested, you could be reading your choice this month and therefore, sort of, be involved already. What do you think?

dozymare · 19/05/2008 11:27

Oh my, I am sooo confused!! Hence the name Dozymare....I can't believe that I used to be responsible for million £ plus accounts.....I have baby brain already and the funny thing is, it hasn't gone away since DS was born nearly 5 years ago - it just gets worse!!!!!

Tinkerisdead · 19/05/2008 13:12

arrrrghhh creena im so sorry didnt see this and the book is already posted!

dozymare · 19/05/2008 13:33

Ok creena let's wait until next month and we can just add you onto the list....otherwise it get's 2 confusing, certainly for me!!!!!

If anyone else wants to join I am afriad the answer will be no unless they can take over the organinsing of who sends what to what as I am very very confused!!!!!

pinkyminky · 19/05/2008 13:54

My book had just been launched through the letterbox- it was quite a dramatic arrival- the cat was just having a bask in the sun through the door window- then bang- it made her jump in the air!
Anyway, thanks Twinkling I will start it tonight.

Daniya · 19/05/2008 15:35

Hey All - thought I should add my book to the list:

Dozymare - The Madness of a Seduced Woman, Susan Fromberg Schaeffer
Lackadaisy - The Handmaid's Tale, Margaret Atwood
Pinkyminky - The Pursuit of Happiness, Douglas Kennedy
Twinklingfairy - Going Dutch, Katie Fforde
Yorky - Deception Point, Dan Brown
Bubbaz - The Trouble with Marriage, Debby Holt
DrsWife - A Thousand Splendid Suns - khaled hosseini
Daniya - Q&A - Vikas Swarup

Is there any chance A Thousand Splendid Suns could skip me as I have already read it and have it on my bookshelf! It was very good!

Oh, and I've read Deception Point but thats ok because its at the bottom of the trail and I wouldn't receive it for ages anyway.

By the way - am I right in thinking that we pass on the book that has been sent to us, not another one of ours??

dozymare · 19/05/2008 16:10

Hi Daniya - I think we agreed that if you had read a book that was sent you either read it again (as in my case with the Handmaid's tale as hadn't read for years but enjoying even more this time around) or you just hang onto it until the next swop. As we said it is going to get very confusing and we need to keep things as simple as possible!!!

Hope everyone still agrees with that??

(DM is loving this but also thinks is a tas confusing for her poor pregnancy induced hormonal brain!!)

DM xx

twinklingfairy · 19/05/2008 16:11

Yes, thats right Daniya

Oh god now I am filled with fear that you will think the book awful Pinky!

Dozy I got yours today too and am 4 chapters in already Though, when you see that is only page 36, it seems an enormous task!
Am enjoying it though and already intruiged (sp?)

dozymare · 19/05/2008 16:15

twinkling notice no comment on how pristine it was!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad you enjoying it so far, it soon becomes a real page turner!!

twinklingfairy · 19/05/2008 17:07

LOL, nope no comments on it's condition
Obviously a much loved book, shall we say?

dozymare · 19/05/2008 17:47

PROMISE not to read any of your books in the bath!!!!!

DM xxx

pinkyminky · 19/05/2008 18:48

Oh twinkling sorry. I didn't even get to open the thing up.
It looks like an enjoyable read- not the sort of book I would normally choose so that will be interesting.
The Douglas Kennedy wasn't my book originally, my sister read it on the plane over here years ago and left it in our spare room, I read anything that gets left here9even DH's awful sci-fi sometimes!) and I really enjoyed it.
I've been struggling to keep going today. All this throwing up is making me exhausted. I am looking forward to getting into my pj's after the kids are in bed and making a start on your book.

dozymare · 19/05/2008 20:01

why are you sorry Pinky are we all getting confused again - I know I am???!!!!!!!

twinklingfairy · 19/05/2008 20:23

I think she was just apologising for not having started my book yet, dozy.
Don't worry about it, Pinky, maybe if you are feeling low, it will be just the lighthearted thing you need to escape to. Hope so
I am looking forward to taking mine to the bath as soon as DD is bedded. We are late putting her to bed and she is delightfully late in getting up in the morning Thats me making excuses for my bad parenting/late bed time schedule or lack there of

pinkyminky · 19/05/2008 20:47

DD has been not going to sleep til about 9 and then waking up at 6.

No I realised I'd written about it arriving and not said thank you or anything about the book.

lackaDAISYcal · 19/05/2008 22:29

just caught up an my brain is ready to explode

can creena and bubbaz swap books with each other and then be added into the round next month? Would that work?

I spent a lovely half hour reading the first few chapters of Dan Brown today...looks promising so far.
