Anyone fancy joining a new book swap?

I was wondering if anyone fancied joining me in a new Book Swap. I was part of one on here for a couple of years that worked really well, then we all got a bit busy and decided to give it a rest. Now no-one on MN seems to do them anymore!

The idea is that you get a small group together (up to about a dozen) of people who enjoy reading similar genres or are prepared to try something new. Everyone then chooses a book they have enjoyed, that’s not really famous or a bestseller. On the first day of each month, you post your book to the next person on the list...and then the same again on the following month. We posted chocolate too last time but that’s not compulsory! The idea is that you get to read books you haven’t heard of, and chat about them if you want to.

Some of the books we ended up reading last time: The Water of the Hills, Cutting for Stone, The Snow Child, On The Black Hill, Prince of Tides, The Weather in the Streets, Any Human Heart, Cat’s Eye, A Month in the Country.

I've had a lovely parcel from the postie this morning containing a book and chocolate (book looks fab and mint aero is one of my faves )

I'm not sure who it's come from but many thanks. It's exciting to have a book again.

I'd love to sort this out but I'm starting to lose the plot a little! Fucky - did you post on? If not, I really need to know whose the books are that you've got. If it's easier, you can just post the whole lot to me and I'll try to sort it out from there.

Also somewhat selfishly I'm glad to see that my book is still in the system and not lost!

Hiya all you wonderful book lovers, I must say I read the thread since I dropped off it with one eye closed in case anybody said anything horrible about me keeping all my books!

Dd is well and definitely on the mend- a bug could floor her so still got to be careful but all upwards from here hopefully!!

SO! There was a problem at hadme's end apparently- Royal Mail had it down as refused parcel (I have a lot of confidence hadme did not refuse the parcel, as it had hotel chocolat in to say sorry... don't get excited- these have now been eaten)

So the books have been delivered back to me. arti, is there a way you could let me know where they are meant to be sent or shall I try hadme again? You'd think paying £3.80 delivery would at least guarantee no issues bloody Royal Mail grr

I am now even more confused as FuckyNell also said she has 3 books! Eh?! So...

If you DO have a book that's just been sent to you for November, can you let me know which MN is written in the front.

TIG - can you also let me know the 3 MN names in the front of your book.

The book has arrived, thanks aristocat. Very excited as I've been curious about this particular author for a while. Not bought a book as it's not a genre I normally like but did promise myself if I stumbled across one in a charity shop I'd get it and give it a go. Currently pretty much slap bang in the middle of Donna Tartt's The Goldfinch though, may have to put that one down for a bit as there's no way I can finish that and this one in a month!

Furry, yes I had a book last month (it was Cunties's). Haven't had one yet this month but will let you know as soon as it got there.

Ok I am useless. Haven't been on Mumsnet at ALL for ages, but have been getting books as normal up until this month. The last one I got was TIOW which was posted on. Haven't had this month's arrive yet though
