Does this sound like a miscarriage?

Hello all,
I'm hoping for a bit of advice as I think I might have had a miscarraige but I'm really not sure as I wasn't ttc. I am on the pill but had a couple of months off it up until about 6 weeks ago. I then ran two packs together which I have done a number of times and has always been fine. However, in the middle of the second pack I started getting cramps on and off for a couple of days before I started bleeding which is unusual for me. At some points they were quite strong and yesterday (sorry if this is quite graphic) when I wiped there was a reasonable amount of tissue. To say this gave me a shock would be an understatement. I was using protection when I was off the pill and had no symptoms of pregnancy so could it be something else? To pass visible tissue (it didn't look like a baby at all though)would I have to be more than 4 weeks gone? The material itself was about an inch across and quite flat looking. One end was very dark blood coloured, the other end pale. I'm sorry this is so graphic but I'd really appreciate if anyone could tell me if this sounds like a miscarriage or not. Thanks

Hello Ash85,

It's hard to say. I have never had a real miscarriage, only missed miscarriages and then had everything taken out surgically.

I did (when I was 16) have a massive massive bleed with one HUGE clot in it. I was a virgin, so no way was I pregnant. My sister also had the same last year and is also a virgin.

I know it sounds gross, but did you retrieve it? If you had, you could have it tested to see. My sister saved hers (yuck!) but only because she was worried about something more sinister. The dr told her it was fine and disposed of it.

Hope you are ok.

Hi! I know what it could be. it could be that the tissue is cervical mucus, which is in 'overdrive' as you have come off the pill. This happened to me, it's just your hormones regulating.

sounds like a cast caused by the Pill (as hairytriangle suggested). It's not a miscarraige.
