4+4 and spotting :(

I'm 4+4 today and started spotting - mainly brown/black blood with a tiny bit of red. I'm not feeling hopeful though as all my pregnancy symptoms (sore boobs/dizzyness/tiredness) have completely gone, and I just don't feel pregnant any more.

I have an appointment with my GP on Monday afternoon, it was to tell him about the pregnancy, but now I think it will be to ask for an early scan/blood tests to see if I can get any answer as to what is going on.

This isn't really for reassurance - I had a chemical pregnancy in February and this feels exactly the same, more to write it down and start to accept it.

Sometime life really sucks.

Sorry you're going through this Delilahbelle. I'm in the same position and it's driving me nuts trying to work out what's happening to my body! You're right, life does suck sometimes.

I also had a small amount of spotting at 4 weeks with some cramping but nothing since. Feel distinctly un-pregnant now though. Same thing happened to me in January at 8 weeks so I'm not holding out much hope either. However, Early Pregnancy Unit weren't too bothered about it and said not to come in until 7 weeks unless I get any further bleeding or pain and said it could just be stretching of the uterus. My GP today was also a bit dismissive! SO, I guess we'll both just have to play the waiting game and hope that we get proven wrong!

You can sometimes self-refer to EPUs and by-pass the need to see your GP, my local hospital has a walk in clinic in the mornings and you get scanned the same day. However, at 4 weeks it may be too early for them to see anything much and they may just book a follow up appointment for 2 weeks time.

Really hope that it all works out for you this time.

Thanks TwinkleToes for your reply, hearing from someone else in the same boat makes me feel better in a weird way. The only thing holding me together is my lovely DH and the fact that at least I can get pregnant...

I am going to beg my GP for an early scan - I will be 5 weeks on Monday so hopefully he will book something for the week after that when I will be six weeks. Saying that, the cramping is getting worse and i have had to take a couple of paracetamol for the pain - not good.

I just want to know one way or the other!

How far along are you? When are you going to the EPU next?

I'm 5 weeks today. I'm going to try to hold out until at least 6 unless something more happens! I just want as little ambiguity as possible so the further along the better. I'm sure your GP wont need begging - if you're in pain now and have spotting they'll probably recommend a scan as soon as possible. But just go straight to the hospital tomorrow if the pain gets worse. This website will give you details of the nearest EPU to you, you could ring them to find out if they take walk-ins.

It's great your hubby is being so supportive (mine is abroad and wont be back for 3 weeks, damn him!!!). I hope the pain subsides soon and you find out what is happening. Let me know how it turns out if you can. You never know, we might both be lucky enough to have babies next Feb/March!

Well, the cramping stopped, I have had quite a bit of brown blood lost, but I am not feeling positive.
I did my last digital pregnancy test, and it said 1-2 weeks... when it should say 2-3 weeks as I will be 5 weeks this Monday.
So I assume my levels of HCG are dropping.

I almost wish I could start bleeding properly and get it over with, it's this limbo which is the worse.

On the plus side it's a lovely day, I am going to try and enjoy it - this time last week I didn't even know I was pregnant, what a difference a week makes.

delilah I know the waiting and uncertainty is the worst. BUT I wouldn't take too much from the CBD indicators - they are notoriously NOT accurate. No red blood and the cessation of cramping is all good too. OF COURSE I'm not saying all is well (sadly no one knows for sure) but exactly as you say, enjoy the sunny weather.

Am 4+5 myself today after 2MMCs in the last year, so empathise with all your anxieties. Have had brown CM and very light spotting myself, and tummy twinges also. As you'll know from googling that can all be perfectly typical. BUT only time can tell. Thinking of you. x

Thanks for the reply jollster.
I sometimes wish I lived 50 years ago - no way of finding out this early then, I would have just assume my period was late.

Ah well, we will both just have to wait and hope. Good luck.

Hi delilah how are you today? Had some more brown discharge myself, but did another HPT yesterday which was a stronger positive. Might phone midwife tomorrow as (although not registered this time as only 5 weeks today) am known to her from previous pregnancies.

delilahbelle · 28/06/2010 18:15

Hi jollster, thanks for thinking of me. Good luck with the midwife.

I'm having more cramps and thicky brown/red/bloody discharge.

Been to the doctor, he was very nice and signed me off work for a week, told me to rest, and told me not to give up hope yet... Basically it's just a waiting game as they won't scan you until 7 weeks around here. And on the positive side at least I can get pregnant (had fertility treatment for the last one)

Must admit though since I got back from the GP the cramps have been a lot worse, more period like, and I think like my previous chem preg I will be bleeding properly in a couple of days. I don't FEEL pregnant IYKWIM.

I havn't done another HPT myself yet - have some cheapies ordered online which should arrive tomorrow so will do then. I almost hope they turn negative straight away, at least I will be out of this limbo then.

Right - full on bleeding and cramps today.
Very painful, worse than a normal period - luckily I am well stocked up with ibuprofen and co-codamol.
Very grateful to be at home - going through this at work would be hideous.
Emotionally, now it's all started I am a lot better. I am counting today as Day 1 as my next cycle, and with any luck and a lot of SWI will have a sucessful pregnancy next time.

all the best Delilah - look after yourself.

My spotting has continued, so I'm feeling less and less confident. Suspect I might be a day or 2 behind you.

delilahbelle · 29/06/2010 09:49

ah jollster - it's so hard, so have my sympathy. I just have to keep telling myself it's one of those things, not my fault, not something I did...
Good luck, and remember its not over until it's over. If there is no red blood there is still hope.

So sorry to hear that Delilah. Hope the spotting stops soon Jolster - take care of yourselves. I'm still in limbo too. It's just a horrible waiting game.
