Hi there,hope someone can help.

I took the morning after pill on the 18th may about 40 hours after intercourse. My period was due on the 2nd june and when it didnt appear after 4 days I took a pregnancy test which was positive. On the same day I had quite alot of period like pain and again yesterday, which became quite strong and also had some bleeding, although only really when i went to the toilet.I assumed i was having a miscarriage.

Today though there is very little blood, more like brown discharge. And whilst I still have some cramps today they are not as bad as they were.

Do you think it is too early to test again?should I wait a few days to see if the bleeding starts again?or is it possible it was a miscarriage with so little blood?

I know a gp is probably the best person to talk to but i get very anxious at the surgery and would like to leave it until i know whats really gong on.

Sorry i dont have much experience of this.I have two children and in my second pregnancy i did experience slight bleeding but this was never accompanied by any pain.

Not much the Dr or Early Preg Unit at your local hospital can do as its so early - I would wait and test again with a clearblue digital. I had a mc at 5 weeks [so 3 wks past conception] on 12 May and have only just stopped bleeding but some people only bleed for a few days.

IME not much point in doing pregtests as hormones can still be detectable weeks after mc.
You prob need a blood test to check BHCG levels, need them over a few days as they will drop.(or rise)
Need to go to epau or docs.

Thanks for your replies.
I started bleeding again last night and had some cramps on one side so went to the doctor this morning.
He did a urine test and it was negative so said it was unlikely to be an ectopic as it would have still been positive and probably an early miscarriage. However I have tested again at home this afternoon and mine still says positive. Is it likely that mine is just picking up leftover hormones that the doctors test didnt or could his test have been wrong? cramps have disappeared again today but still bleeding.

ilovecakes i dont know whats going on with tests but i was still testing posative a month after medical management of mmc, i did have one negative (cheapy £2 test) then a few more posative but they were all done at home as my doc advised me not to do any as it would mess up my emotions even more, but i did it for my own peace of mind, i just had to know if my body was getting back to normal. i would say leave it about a week and test again, if it is still posative take it to your g.p and see what he says, maybe its that you still have pg hormones and as tightwad said mabey you need your BHGC levels checked to find out either way and put your mind at rest. if bleeding gets much worse e.g more than 1 pad an hour or you start to feel unwell go to A&E to be checked over. tc.
