do you think an ERPC would help?

Hi all, i just come on here for some advice,
i had a MC on sunday night
when i went for the scan on mon for it to be confirmed the doc said that there was nothing left inside i asked if i could have an ERPC but was told there was no need as there was nothing to take away, i asked what would happen next and they just said i could bleed for up to 2 weeks with maybe period like pains.
Well lastnight i started to cramp again like i did on sun night and then passed huge clots about the same as sun, i went to A&E and was told that it could be the uterine wall coming away.
If this is the case then surely i could of had an ERPC and avoided all this extra upset
do you think i should reqest one now or is what im experiencing normal??

I am so sorry you've had an MC. What you're experiencing right now is normal, and even though it's painful and upsetting I think you are better off just going through it. You should find that by the end of the first week the cramping and bleeding has really eased off - that happened to me with my first MC and in a strange way it was a relief to see that my body knew what it was doing, even if I didn't. Your body seems to be reacting normally, which is why probably why an ERPC hasn't been recommended. And ERPCs aren't always the solution - I had a botched ERPC after my second MC because I had an anembryonic pregnancy that my body just wasn't getting rid of, and needed to have a second one done two months later. Just have lots of rest, take as many painkillers as you need (paracetamol are rubbish, so go for maximum strength ibuprofen) and talk about it. I hope that you recover quickly, and your next pregnancy is a happy and healthy one.

thankyou so much, i feel better already, i am so glad i found MN its the only place to get some good advice...just wish the docs could deliver a straight answer would save all the worry in the first place. xx

It's the awful thing about MCs - doctors never really know anything and certainly aren't interested until you've had three of them (by which time I imagine any woman would be climbing the walls in frustration and fear; I was going demented after only two), and all you are left with in the meantime is a sense of uncertainty and unreality.

Something I meant to say in my previous post is that if your periods don't return to normal then you should go back to your GP for a referral for an ultrasound because it might be that your body hasn't expelled everything it should have - and then you would need an ERPC. This is rare, though.

ok thanks, it seems to have settled down today so hopefully im over the worst of it.
Sorry to hear you've suffered 2MC, i never want to go thru this again as i can imagine thats how all women feel.
