Failing preg, is it ectopic or miscarriage?

Hi ladies, I am new here.

To cut a long story short, I got a BFP after having had 8 days of bleeding/spotting.

GP referred me to EPU. They confirmed hCG levels of 241. 2 days later the hCG levels are the same :-( so I am having a failing pg.

I will be going back to EPU tmw for more blood tests to see what the levels are doing. I really hope they go down.

I am worried it may be ectopic as the blood (tmi) is not period-like, it is red or reddy brown and runny. Have been bleeding for 18 days now .

Occasionally have mild cramps and I am sure that I can feel a tingling feeling coming from under my hip (on and off over several days).

I think if it was a "straightforward" mc that I would have had heavy bleeding by now.

Has anyone been in the same boat and got any advice? How did it turn out?

It's all of this waiting I can't stand, spent all of last week in limbo wondering whether or not it is a viable pg, now I am worried about what kind of mc I am having.

Any advice gratefully received :'-(

No idea I'm afraid, how many weeks & days pregnant are you - min & max?

I should have been 5 weeks from last week, the epu nurse said based on the levels of hCG should be 4 weeks (but it has to be 5 based on my ov and the bd dates).

It's very early on, I only got my bfp a couple of weeks ago. Was bleeding before I got it and been bleeding ever since.

The only way to diagnose is through scanning/investigation as far as I know. You don't always bleed with EP though so that may be a red herring. If the pain gets worse you should go and get seen again urgently.
