Had termination for medical reasons at 25 weeks and still no AF is this normal???

I recently had a termination at 25 weeks because my baby was diagnosed with Triploidy wich is a lethal chromosonal disorder.
We found out at 15 weeks and waited for it to happen naturally... it didnt and the baby was getting worse and worse. So eventually at 25 weeks we decided to be induced. It was a horrible decision to make, but becuase i had so long before the termination to come to terms with our loss I feel positive now, and just want to get pregnant. Reading all your posts on here with people in similar situations makes me feel less crazy but... I stopped bleeding 1 week and 4 days ago and i bled for about 3 weeks, is it normal to not have had an AF yet? and can i get pregnant before i get my AF? and is it true about you being more fertile after a loss? help please!!!

Hello am certainly no expert on the matter, but I think you can expect a period 4-6 weeks after you have stopped bleeding. You should ovulate about 14 days after you stop bleeding, and then 14 days after that you should start a period. All this is theory and in an ideal world of course - and if your body does what its supposed to! Mine doesn't do what its supposed to and likes to keep me guessing good luck xx

I am also not an expert, but have heard that the longer you have been pg for the longer it can take for your hormones to go back to a level where you will ovulate. Some say the same number of weeks as you were when you stopped being pregnant. I think this is generally quoted as a maximum, and many get AF back before then. I was 12 weeks pg when I MC and I am 24 days post MM, a week past last spotting but 2 weeks since last bleeding properly. I have no AF yet. I think if it is 12 weeks post bleeding finishing then they can give you a shot of something to start your system off again.

I've never posted on here before but looking for some advice on this topic.

I had a termination at 14 weeks due to severe complications with the baby. This was nearly 12 weeks ago and I still haven't had a period. It seems from your comments that this could be "normal" but I've been really worried. I desperately want to be pregnant again but I'm definitely not at the moment.

Very sorry for all of you who have experienced a sad loss too. It's a really awful thing to go through.

I have had two ERPC's where my period didnt return for a long time after

The first was a month after childbirth because of retained placenta, the second was after a mmc discovered at 14 weeks but the ERPC was 3 months after that because at first it was medically managed but there were complications (suspected partial molar).

In the first case I had no periods for 6 months, I was prescribed a 10 day course of progesterone and my period came and everything was normal after that. In the second case it has been 13 weeks since ERPC and I am taking progesterone again. I havent finished the course yet but I am expecting it to work the same as last time.

The standard line is that you should get AF 4-7 weeks after ERPC, so its probably a good idea to go an see your doc after 7 weeks. I had an internal scan and the doc confirmed that the womb lining was growing again. This is nice and reassuring if you can get it. (I am paying private in Costa Rica)

I dont think it is true that you are more fertile after a loss. I think this information comes from the recent decision by UK doctors NOT to recommend that women wait 6 months before TTC again (this is a U turn on the WHO's recomended 6 month wait)

Sarahmia, you need a break of at least 20 days of no bleeding before getting AF. If there is not a 20 day break you are likely to still be recovering from the mc. Read more here www.pregnancyloss.info/waitingforaf.htm
