Hi I just wondered if anyone could give me a bit of advice. I miscarried about two weeks ago at 11 weeks but the baby had only grown to about the size of six weeks. We had a scan at 9 1/2 weeks due to bleeding and saw the heartbeat but were advised things didn't look good. After hanging on until the following weeks scan we lost the baby a few days later. I went back for a further scan a week after the second one to check everything had gone (The bleeding had stopped the day before this scan). Fortunately everything was gone but the midwife said the lining of my uterus was still thick and would shed so I would have another bleed. It has been over a week since that scan and I still haven't had any further bleeding. Does anyone know if it can take a while for the uterus lining to shed after a miscarriage and if it's normal for this to happen separately from the actual miscarriage itself?

Hey mumofone
I'm so sorry about your loss.
I can't help to be honest but I can direct you to plenty of ladies that possibly could.
Please look at "Just miscarried, in for the long haul" it's a wonderful, supportive place to be,and we if you want to off load about DH, we're good for that too!

hi mumofonesofar, i was in a very similar situation - had a mc on 1st Feb and was also told that my lining was very thick. However my bleeding only lasted for a week after the mc, and was quite light - I then had another scan and was told the lining was still thick. I haven't had any bleeding since, and am assuming that I will just have a very heavy period (when it appears) - which is something I have read about.

Thank you for your reply, yes I think I will just wait it out. Desperate to try again and I don't feel we can until the lining that was there with the miscarried baby has gone. Probably silly but worried it might happen again then.
