Hi i have an 8yr old daughter and have suffered numerous miscarriages since having her, i am currently seeing Dr Shehata at Epsom Hospital and i am on the NK Cell Programme as my NK Cell activation was 22.1
I own my own domestic and commercial cleaning company and i am very nervous about when i do fall pregnant to whether my highly physical job will cause any affect on my pregnancy, any advise will be much appreciated.

Hi Brazilsbird sorry to hear you have experienced a number of miscarriages. I can't give you any advice as I have no knowledge of this subject but could you ask your doctor at Epsom Hosp about your physical activities? Don't know whether it would be worth posting on the Conception thread or on one of the Health threads? Best wishes to you.

hi there Brazil I'd be very interested to hear a bit more about your experiences as I have just had NK cell testing at the Lister Hospital in London and am awaiting the results. I've had four consecutive miscarriages since having my DS, who is now 2.5 years old. Had tests on the NHS but they didn't show anything. I'm 35. I'm not a doctor but i reckon it's highly unlikely your physical work caused your miscarriages - think of all those women in the developing world who have to trek miles every day for water or labour in the fields and still have lots of children. All the same, is there any chance of you significantly cutting down your physical work in your next pregnancy?
I know from experience that once you get a theory in your head that something you are doing might be responsible for your pregnancy losses, you feel the need to stop, even if it's illogical. I gave up exercise during my third and fourth most recent pregnancies, because i thought there might be some link, but of course it didn't make any difference at all. All the same, i'm glad i tried it - at least i now know it's not the reason for my losses.

Hi Kissmummy thank you for your response, please make sure you let me know your results when you receive them i am very interested to see what they are and what they offer you!!!
I do not think that my work caused my miss's as i wasn't working then but just want to make sure that am i not doing anything wrong when i do fall again i wouldn't want to blame myself again (which you naturally do anyway).
It does confuse me that women who are addicted to herion etc through there pregnancy's can go on to have healthy children yet women like us cannot!
What test's did you have on NHS????
Epsom hospital have re tested my NK cell levels i am waiting results as the last test was 18months ago i am very intrigued to see if they have fluctuated, which they obviously can as i had Kizzi with no probs 8 years ago!

I too am an NK cell girl. I had 4 m/cs then my DD in 2008 and now another m/c. Currently taking prednisolone from ovulation for two cycles, but do not think I am pg this month - just fat and steroidy!!! I am going to my levels re tested if my period comes but am trying to get hold og my consultant at the Lister to see whether taking steroids in advance can skew the blood results. it's torture!! At least we three of us know we can have babies, our bodies can do it and we must hold on to that thought as soul destroying as it is, as when the conditions are right inside it will go to plan!!

On the physical exercise job subject - I just don;t know, I think it's about making sure you eliminate anything that could if you had a miscvarriage be something you could blame it on. I don't think in reality it makes a difference but its more about making sure you have nothing to blame yourself for...

KissMummy - I emailed you about meeting up, wondered whether you still wanted to. When are you seeing Yau Thum again and when do you get your results back?

Hi Megmum25, Thank you for your message it made me feel better about it, it's nice to speak to people going through the same thing i have been going through this for 18months on my own and yes it's soul destroying!!!!
How long have you been on the programme and what dosage of steroid are you on, do you have any other meds to take alongside???
I am also taking from ov 25mg and then up to 40mg when pregnant!
They make my moods so erratic and i am not a very nice person on them along with having a fat face

hi all, just an update on my situation in case it is of interest. I have now had every test under the sun and raised NK cells is the only possible explanation that has come up. if that's not causing my miscarriages then i'll probably never know what is . My levels in 'pregnancy' (in a test tube) are apparently 28. Does that figure mean anything to anyone?
Yau Thum says that ideally the levels should be below 20. According to blood tests, with steroids my levels could be reduced to 14. So i'll be going on steroids as soon as i get pregnant again. He didn't mention anything about taking steroids from ovulation - only once I'm preg.

lunatic i suspect you wouldn't be a candidate. in so far as the evidence goes, it seems to apply to people who either have no children, or just one.
