Period after ERPC??

I had a MMC mid Dec, discovered at 12 week scan, baby had stopped growing at 7 weeks. The ERPC was a few days later so has been about 5 weeks since this happened. We would like to try again but were advised to wait 2 to 3 months.

I have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of my period - more to get back to normal and be able to figure out where I am in my cycle. Over the last week I've had bad cramps intermitently and last few days some sort of discharge. A bit minging, sorry, but its not bright red like a period - more dark brown and mucus like.

So I know don't know if this is my period or just more clearing out. I don't know whether to wait for a 'proper' period to start figuring out where I am. Has anyone else had experience of this - was your period just the same as usual when it came back?

In response to your post, everyone is different so it's hard to say.
How regular are you normally?
I had a MMC then ERCP 10 days ago and I suppose I'm lucky in a away that as far as I can tell (Tmi) my CM indicates that I'm ovulating soon!?
I have got slight brown discharge too when I've wiped occasionally.
I assume that it's "old" as it's not pink/red so yeah your right about the clearing out.
I've had a few MC and afterwards my periods are always near enough to the day expected but I've read many posts that ladies have waited up to 8-9 weeks.
There are loads of helpful threads on MN that have got me through the last few weeks.
As regards to TTC again it's said it's best to wait so you can see your dates properly but if you feel emotionally ready there's no reason not to try after bleeding stops.

Thanks MrsGazebo, sorry to hear you're going through this too. I'm holding up alright, all things considered. Better as time passes I think as first few weeks were horrible, but I get caught unawares every now and then. Lots of weeping at inappropriate times and places!

My periods were pretty irregular before so its hard to know when one is due. After the ERPC I only bled lightly for 2-3 days and this is the first sign of anything since. Its the bad cramps that made me wonder if this is just a light period or not.

I just want to move on now and get back to some sense of normality. Never thought I would be actively wishing for a period!
