Already posted in pregnancy - is it worth phoning the doc's for this?

I'm only 4.5 weeks, only found out I was pregnant a couple of days ago.

Had some bright red spotting during the night (noticed after getting up with DS), not very much. Am continuing to have spotting when I go to the loo this morning, still not very much. Have very mild stomach pains, but nothing worse than I've been having for the past week or so.

I'm sort of assuming that it will all end in MC, but if by some miracle I don't start 'properly' bleeding today, can the doc do a blood test/scan or anything to see whether everything's OK? Can't imagine having to wait till 12 weeks to find out it all went wrong at 4 weeks...

Damn, why do they never explain this stuff? Why not say '6mm, bad/not bad/good/v promising WRT having another go' or SOMETHING?

Hopefully · 12/01/2010 20:56

Googling suggests that 6mm is normal (although still have no idea what it really means!)

Am feeling really tired, in an ever-so-slightly-emotional it's all over now and we can start again sort of way.

Hi Hopefully

Sorry to hear your news I was on the same Conception thread as you.

I would agree that it can be the case you can be pretty fertile after a MC, at least by my experience. I had a chemical pg last month whereby I got a BFP on the Mon a.m. followed by BFN by Fri a.m. then bleeding starting Fri eve.

Am pg again only a month later which is amazing as we weren't really going for it also I didn't have any of my usual pre-OV signs eg EWCM etc. The only thing I got was a temp shift but I put that down to having a cold.

I don't know why scientifically you can be more fertile after MC but I think it's something to do with your cervix being more open.. or something , same as just after giving birth apparently.

Anyway, good luck for this month!

LWC, sounds like your experience was very similar to mine - how much did you bleed (sorry for horrible question, but I bled so little and no idea if that's normal)?

Really hope I can also follow you this month!

Hopefully, glad you're starting to look to the next step too. We WILL get there...

Hi Stillfrazzled, I also only bled a little bit - I was expecting quite a lot considering but I only got what I would call a light short period. I was surprised too and I was actually worried in case I hadn't passed everything, in case it would cause trouble in there! Anyway clearly it hasn't

Also I don't know if you track cycles, but I did and I definitely didn't OV on time after the chem pg, for me it was 4-5 days later than usual plus I had none of the usual signs eg EWCM, cramping etc. I did track my temp and there was an upwards shift but I thought it was due to a cold because of the lack of OV symptoms elsewhere. Just a thought if you do track cycles, I thought I had definitely not OV'd!

Very good luck to all xx

Thanks LWC, that's reassuring.

I'm practically convinced I'm ov'ing today or I did y'day - EWCM y'day and also a pain just above the hipbone area in the afternoon. Lasted about ten minutes, does that sounds about right?

We did the deed Weds night, will go for it tonight as well and fingers crossed...
