Still bleeding 6 weeks on from miscarriage

I had a natuaral Mc just over six weeks ago at 9 wks pregnant.

I had very heavy bleeding for 3 weeks, then it started getting lighter, the last 2 days it has got much heavier again, bright red with clots. Is this normal this long after mc?

I went to see GP 3 weeks ago who did a quick exam and said all looked fine, but haven't been offered a scan. I have also read people saying they had their hormone levels tested to see if the pregnancy hormones were going down, is this something I should be getting done? Would be intereseted to hear from anybody else that has bled for this long. I'm fed up with it all now!

Hi hmmsleep i am so sorry for your loss.
I have been bleeding for 8 weeks and 2 weeks ago i was given misoprostal as a scan showed a small sac still remaining. If you are still bleeding and losing clots it is possible there is still some left inside. I would suggest you contact your epau and speak to them. They may offer you a scan and ask you to do a pregnancy test too. The test is a good indication if anything is left behind. Or they may offer a blood test to check your hormone levels. Don't leave this as you can be at risk of infection if you have an incomplete mc. I know how frustrating it is, the medication i was given is working but a test this morning was still positive although the blue line is very very faint unlike 2 weeks ago. I have been scanned every 2 weeks for the last 8 weeks. I really hope this helps you and please don't hesitate to ask me or any of the ladies on here questions. We are all here to support each other. I have recieved excellent support on here. All the best x

Thank you daisy, sorry to hear you're in the same situation. I called the epau today and they said get my gp to refer me for a scan asap. Might go and buy a pregnancy test to do tomorrow. I'm just fed up with it all now, finding it both physically and emotionally draining and finding it hard to move on whilst this is still happening.

Hope your body gets back to 'normal' soon, and good luck for the future.
