Two miscarriages within two months

I had a miscarriage six weeks ago when I was 7 weeks pregnant, I didn't have to go for a ERPC and stopped bleeding after about 10 days. We started TTC straight away and last Saturday found out I was pregnant again! Had a week of obsessive knicker-checking and then last night started bleeding which is really heavy today, so looks like an early miscarriage again. Think I was about 4-5 weeks pregnant this time, but is hard to tell not having had a period inbetween....
Am just feeling kind of numb...I know it was really early days but had still got really excited this last week. My DH is being v. supportive and I have my DD who is keeping me occupied and managing to make me smile.
Just really wanted a rant I suppose - this is my first post but reading everyone's experiences and seeing all you courageous women out there was of great comfort to me after my first miscarriage. A question for the other women out there who have had miscarriages close together, did you start TTC straight away again or wait for a bit? Any advice gratefully received!

I'm sorry for your loss. I haven't got any advice bt i wanted to offer you my support. I think whether to ttc is very personal decision.

I had 7 mcs before my DCs were born. initially we took medical advice to wait 3 months before trying again but after about number 4 the gynae admitted that there was no well-researched reason for this and she suggested we just crack on and ignore it. I eventually managed to get on with life and tended to 'assume' if I was pg that it would probably not last.

FWIW I had all the tests, no reasons. You shoudl get tested after 3 recurrent mcs, so let your Dr know what has happened. I swear by baby aspirin - my gynae suggested this as soon as I was pg with pregnancy no 8, and I went on to have sucessful pg twice running. Baby aspirin is available over the counter only at chemists (they will ask you why you want it) and you take one a day as soon as pg. But ask advice of Dr gynae first of course.

Sympathies, by the way. It is horrible to go through.

stillsquaffing i am in awe - how did you manage to keep trying despite miscarriage after miscarriage? i have had four mcs in the last 18 months and really can't imagine putting myself through it again, though i know we have to keep going if there is any chance of success. this latest one has nearly broken me. (i took aspirin this time and it didn't make any difference for me... ) Did you ever consider giving up? how did you pick yourself up each time, and start again?

bonniebon · 31/10/2009 19:47

Thank you for your comments/support guys. I too am in awe stillsquaffing, you must be amazingly strong to have gone through that. One MC is bad enough but to have had seven is just awful. I am so glad that you now have your DC. Thanks for the advice re baby Aspirin - I have also heard about this so will ask my doctor when I go.

Hi bonniebon I'm so sorry to hear about your losses. I've just had my 2nd miscarriage within 3 months. It's really difficult. I have been lucky once with my gorgeous son but I just wonder if I'm ever going to get pregnant again. I'm having a break from trying for the moment and trying again in a couple of months to let my body heal. I keep getting told that there's nothing you can do except that it's your body's way of telling you something is not right with your baby. I hope all of you ladies are OK. It's such a horrid thing to happen but I'm trying to believe it happens for the right reason.

Hi BonnieBon, this is years later now, but I found your post and I am going through the same thing. We had a miscarriage around 7 1/2 weeks in April. We didn't wait for a period in between and started trying again when I showed signs of ovulation. I got pregnant at the end of May, and now we are finding out the hcg is not increasing fast enough and the pregnancy isn't viable. I was wondering if you waited a period cycle in between after the second miscarriage you had? And did you end up being successful the next time? I'm also 35 years old, so that could have something to do with it. Just looking for some advice from people that experienced similar things.

I also had a miscarriage in July 2017 (3 miscarriages out of 4 pregnancies total), waited a period cycle and got pregnant in the following September. We have a 2 year old daughter from that pregnancy, so at least I know I am fortunate to be able to get pregnant at all... Thanks for sharing and I would love to hear how things ended up for you.

Hi Arena, I am wondering how your pregnancy ended up after having the 2 miscarriages and getting pregnant without a period cycle in between. I know this post is very old, and you mentioned you were 11 weeks pregnant, so I was just wondering if that one went to term and was healthy! Thank you for sharing.
Roastn · 21/06/2020 21:05

Hey jumping on this as I'm in the same situation as you @StacieRoller. Just miscarried for the second time at the weekend (was 5 weeks) after miscarrying last month at 6 weeks. So sorry about what you've been through, it's horrible. Me and my husband are keen TTC asap but part of me thinks I need to wait a cycle too. Hope you're doing ok x

StacieRoller · 21/06/2020 22:12

I'm sorry you're going through it as well. It really is such a bummer. I have spoken with a couple doctors and they are insisting that miscarrying the second time was truly just bad luck. And there is actually no evidence that trying back to back months leads to more failure. What do you think? On the bright side of things, at least you miscarried somewhat early on in your pregnancy. Less time "wasted," if you will? It's really hard to find the silver living though. Best of luck 🤞

Roastn · 24/06/2020 23:18

Yeah I'm of the same thought, there seems to be no evidence for failure conceiving straight away, if anything seems lucky to be able to. It's the emotional rollercoaster and especially in lockdown it seems more intense. My GP is running some routine bloods in case there's anything hormonal as to why I mc so early. Are you trying again for next month or taking a break?

StacieRoller · 25/06/2020 00:30

I think we're also going to try again as soon as we can. There's always the chance we just won't get pregnant and have to wait a cycle anyway. We'll see... Hoping for the best!

Roastn · 25/06/2020 09:04

Yeah thats the thing isn't it the unknown! Its the mental drain more than anything. Hope it works out for us both

Kamacs12 · 21/12/2020 16:19

@StacieRoller and @Roastn I just wondered how you both got on?

I’ve just had my second miscarriage in three months.

Ohh im so sorry to hear that. How are you doing? Hope you're looking after yourself. I'm actually pregnant again (third time lucky hopefully!). 16 weeks along so the furthest I've ever been. We gave ourselves a month or 2 off from ttc to mentally recharge and I fell pregnant 3rd cycle after the second miscarriage. It'll hopefully happen for you too! Anytime you want to chat I'm all ears x

Kamacs12 · 22/12/2020 05:05

I’m actually okay. I had a faint positive but it was a few days after my missed period and so I was already kind of wary. I’m holding onto the fact that if I didn’t temp and track my cycle I’d have never known. I definitely hadn’t got the excitement yet so it was far less of a blow but obviously two in a row makes you pretty worried for the future. I think I’m a bit despondent.

Congratulations though!!! It’s really good to hear a positive story ❤️ You must be so relieved to get past 12 weeks x
