Miscarrying Naturally ....what to expect?

I am having my second miscarriage at 8 weeks

It is five years since my last which was a medically 'managed' NIGHTMARE

this time i have started to miscarry naturally after being told two weeks ago it was not looking good..

waiting was awful and i started to properly bleed yesterday ..culminating in some really bad cramps late last night. I took some codeine and have since taken more painkillers but been ok

what i want to ask is - i am bleeding a lot but not loads...like a medium to bad period...NO clots but bright red blood all the time

when will it get worse...am i to still panic????

when will i feel i am properly miscarrying not just waiting for the nightmare?

I think it can be different for different people - sorry, not much help I know.

When I MC'd naturally at about 10 weeks I had cramps and bright red bleeding for a day followed by worse cramps, was quite woozy, hot and out of it, and passed a large amount of clots/jelly substance after which I felt much better quite quickly.

I miscarried naturally in March and was worried too that I wouldn't know when it was happening.

I had period like bleeding and cramps for a couple of days. Then I woke up during the night with strong cramps and I passed large clots. Immediately I felt much better, I knew it was over and went to bed with a hot water bottle. It was painful but not unbearable. Obviously everyone is different but a couple of my friends who m/c reported the same kind of experience.

My second miscarriage was natural - the pain was never awful, but I was passing clots and tissue for quite a while. It wasn't pleasant, but not horrific.

If you are bleeding through more than a pad an hour, or the pain is unbearable when taking ibuprofen/co codamol, then you need to go to A&E

When I had a natural m/c it lasted for approx a week. To begin with it was like a period but became increasingly heavy with lots of clots. TBH I was shocked at how much I bled.

Then I had one day where it suddenly became very, very painful and I passed the embryo/baby along with more clots. After this the pain stopped and the bleeding tailed off.

A scan showed that I didn't need any medical intervention.

I miscarried naturally at 10 weeks. Again I'm sure everyone is different but the worst of it physically was over for me in an afternoon. Had what felt like really bad period pains, followed by an hour or two of very painful cramps on and off and passed a lot of blood/clots. It was managable with ibruprofen but I'd second CMOTdibbler's advice about getting some codamol if you need it.

I'm sorry that you are going through this situation. I mc'd in Sept and the first couple of days were like a heavy period and day 3 was much more painful and when I passed clots. For about 1 1/2 hours on day three the pain was almost unbearable and I was thinking about calling an ambulance when it eased off. After that the bleeding tailed off a bit.

Bleeding was one week in total

Everyone seems to have slightly different experiences so just try to take care of yourself and hopefully it will be over for you soon.

Hello all i am still here but half term means lots of dcs and so not mning!

It has all been ok - after the one cramping incident which was bad but nothing like when i had a pessary .....i have had just bleeding..still NO clots and really not much blood

am waiting and waiting for something to happen.....

dont think i have passed baby but it was so small - that was the problem.....

am having a scan tomorrow and and DREADING that baby will still be there - if its heart is still beating i will break mine.... i just cant feel this is really IT ..it should be so much worse...

thanks again for your experiences - they seem to tell me i will know when i pass baby...
