when to start trying again?

hi all I had a MC last week at 10 wks pregnant (and had a massive rant about MC and why no one talks about it, on the pregnancy board, until I found this one!). i'm not sure when to start trying again. my doctor said it was basically up to me, (i.e. whenever i wanted) another doctor said to wait. I had a ERPC. Any other advice? 2 posts on the thread i started on the pregnancy board got pg again straight after MC and had healthy pergnancies. Would i be putting myself and a aby at risk if i were to get pg straight away?

hi sorry for your loss. i had a miscarrige over a year ago now. i was 19 weeks with identical twins. the advice id give is make sure you've recoverd mentally and physically first and start trying again whenever it feels right for you nobody else! i started trying near enough straight away and fell pregnant 16weeks after and everything ran smoothly. x

I am sorry for your loss. I agree with starynight - I lost my first baby at 17 weeks last year and was told I could start ttc as soon as the bleeding had stopped (otherwise risk of infection). So I started again straight away and got pregnant 3 months later, have a beautiful baby son now. Unless there is a specific reason to wait (infection, molar pregnancy, etc) I don't believe there is any increased risk from trying again straight away, but you must make sure you give yourself time to recover as two pregnancies back to back can be very draining. My second pregnancy was difficult and I was glad I had had a 3 month break. Hope this helps a bit. I agree, people don't talk about mc much - not sure why - as soon as you tell people you've had an mc loads of people start saying "I had one too" or "I know someone who did" and you realise it is sadly common, though late ones are much rarer. xx

I'm so sorry you've had to go through this. I had a mmc 3 weeks ago. I don't think there are any rights or wrongs about when to try again - very much a personal thing about how you feel mentally and physically. A lot of doctors advise waiting for one cycle but I think that is primarily to help with dating. The Miscarriage Association website has some useful info and they say there is no problem with trying immediately. Obviously you need to wait until the bleeing finishes to minimise the risk of infection as has already been mentioned.

It's a real rollercoaster after m/c - the grief and doubts are hardly helped by all the hormones still raging through your body. But I did find it got better, slowly day by day.

Hope you're doing OK and when you do feel the time is right to try again, come and have a look on some of the TTC after m/c threads under the Conception section. You'll find lots of kindred spirits who know what you've been through.

One practical piece of advice, I suggest you make sure you get a negative pregnancy test before you start trying again (if you do try without waiting for a cycle). Even after m/c, your hormones could still test positive for a while. Once you get a BFN, you will know that any future BFP is a genuine one.

i miscarried lst month

not sure if to try again- ive had a funny bleed and it lasted not even a day- it was just a bit of blood- - and now its stopped again- - what is this- does this count as a period-if so can you try again?? i need to know!

so not sure if to try again- scared of it all happening again. so so scared! did anyone else feel like this>??
