Yes, I think that if you have had three mcs, but normal tests for everything, then your chances next time are only a bit lower than someone who has had no mcs

I had 3 mcs then dd actually hung on in there, then had a 4th mc. I may have had an early mc in my 20's, but t'was not diagnosed so I don't count it.

I had 3 mcs after having my first ( with no problems ). i asked for help but was told that as dh and i had had a successful pregnancy together it wasn't available. We went on to have dd.

barnsley that sounds wrong that you were told no help was available after 3 consecutive mc - even the RCOG Website defines 'recurrent miscarriage' as three consecutive mc....but it's great that you went on to have dd.

I had 7 m/cs before DS and DD.

All tests came back clear (even the clotting ones) but was advised by gynae (very well known woman) to take 'baby' aspirin (you get it from pharmacy counter) throughout first 32 weeks, on grounds that the clotting tests can sometimes give false negatives, and aspirin at this low level does not harm. Was immediately sucessful with DS and again with DD.

I strongly recommend you discuss this as a possible option with your GP/gynae.

once you've just reminded me, the gynae did recommend that I take baby Aspirin - from ovulation onwards. I will buy some today.

Sorry to hear of your 7 losses, that is 7 too many but fantastic that the baby Aspirin appeared to do the trick!

I was also prescribed baby Aspirin after 3 mcs. It worked for me and my little boy is here with me now as proof. Good luck.

I just bought some BA but not sure when to take it....the gynae. suggested taking it from ovulation but I've read that more people start taking it after they get a BFP?

I took it from BFP but that was because the risk for me was at 7-12 weeks. I don't suppose it hurts to take it earlier as is such a low dose.

Hi, I'm another recurrent mc person, 3 in a row after a normal first pg. Took baby aspirin this time 1st and 2nd trimester after bfp and DS is a gorgeous 14wk old.

Thanks all - it seems that BA is a bit of a pg panacea!! I hope it will make a difference to me if I ever get another BFP...I had my blood taken yesterday so it'll be interesting to see the results.

I'm another one that had 3 mc in a row after successful first pregnancy. Didn't take baby aspirin (or do anything else different) and am currently 36wks pregnant.

Have you read Prof Lesley Regan's book on miscarriage? I found it very helpful to improve my understanding of the possible problems (even though we didn't actually have any tests done).

Hi, I am on pregnancy number 4 (no children - yet) I started taking BA before I conceived last time and I think it thinned my blood too much so it didn't stick as I had all the symptoms of pregnancy and my period was 5 days late (which doesn't ever happen). This time I left it until I got my BFP so I am just taking things day by day and hoping that it works. Thanks for all the positive stories, if I am ever lucky enough I promise to come back and give people hope.

I had 2 mc, then DD, two years later DS and then another mc.

I did not take Baby Aspirin, but took hormones during the first two pregnancies. Did not make a difference.

Hi there I had four mc before having my DS and also two positive pregnancy tests which faded to negative over the next few days which I regard as very early pregnancy loss.

I had a whole series of tests and prodding and poking which showed nothing wrong. I found the doctor who delivered these results totally unsympathetic and unhelpful. I was convinced there was something dreadfully wrong with me.

Eventually I saw a second consultant who was much more understanding and said (sorry if this is hard to hear I know it was tough for me) that most micarriages occur because the embryo / foetus has a problem in its formation that sadly means it cannot grow and mature properly.

The only 'medical' thing he did was test me for polycystic ovarian sydrome. I apparently had a mild case so he prescribed me with metformin as he said women with PCOS tend to be more prone to miscarrage and that metformin was thought to reduce the risk slightly (not a miracle cure just a small reduction in risk).

Four months later I was pregnant with DS. IMO multiple miscarriage is not terribly uncommon and your chances of a healthy pregnancy are high.

PS I don't mean to sound as though a healthy pregnancy erases the loss of a miscarriage. Nothing can replace what was lost. However, for me it is so much more bearable now that I have DS who I treasure so much.

after 3mcs changed my doctor really great lady found out iwas pregnant again she put me on asprin it worked at long last have wonderfull dd keep going anyone with trouble

Cornflakegirl and Scotlass, I also had three mcs in a row after my first child was born. Dr prescribed progesterone suppositories when I got preg again made me sick as a newt but stayed pregnant. They investigated for abnormalities after the third mc nothing. When I had three DCs, had another mc at thirteen weeks, out of the blue, then got preg again successfully immediately.
It's hard when there's no apparent reason and the drs seem to be just trying things and suggesting things you could read in a magazine.

I despise those odds! I've been told the chances of miscarrying again (after 3) are higher but I've never heard that percentage. I am refusing to believe it though because of all the women out there and on here that have had successful pregnancies after multiple mc's.

I've also been tested for everything and nothing is wrong. I'm currently on my 4th pregnancy and hoping and praying that this baby aspirin and progesterone do the trick. How could it be something so simple as baby aspirin?? It's crazy. I was told to take it everyday because it helps to build up your uterine lining to make it nice and thick for implantation. So, I've been taking it for the last 4 months everyday and now I'm preggers so let's see...Staying positive

Wish I'd heard of Baby aspirin...but on the positive front,I had DD, completely normal pregnancy, then 8 mcs before having DS, prem but now healthy and happy. From my experiences, Drs know less about the inside of the womb than they do about the surface of the moon. When I got pregnant the 10th (last chance)time, I didn't tell any of them until I felt I absolutely had to - no poking or prodding. Feel free to ignore their 'statistics'. Good luck.
