5+1 weeks, now bleeding - thinks it's all over but don't know what to do

2 positive tests one on Monday (4+4), one this evening.

Just been the loo and there was a browny bloody smear when I wiped, also got a dull ache in my lower stomach, not cramping though.

What do I do know - is it really a case of just wait and see? As soon as DH gets home he's going to want us to go to A&E, is there any point?

Go on holiday to Cornwall for a week tomorrow as well with DH and my mum (who knows). Don't want to say it's over if there's hope but don't want to spend the week discussing a pregnancy that could be nothing more than chemical.

How can I be so upset over something I've only known about for 5 days.

Is there anyone out who can help, falling apart

Hi JamieJay, sorry things are a bit scary for you right now. ((hugs))

When I was a few weeks pg, I had a bit of spotting and the same type of smear that you described. It was quite late at night so I waited until the morning to call my mw (I counted every minute until the surgery opened). She referred me to the hospital where I had a scan and was told everything was fine. I have a 9mth old dd now! I had loads of stomach pains and cramps during the first trimester, but another friend did too so I think it's quite common.

Have you thought about maybe calling NHS Direct for advice there if you don't want to head straight to A&E? I would talk to yr DH about it tho so that you can get support from him. I felt the same as you, in that I didn't want to tell DH when I had any pains or bleeding, but it did help when I talked to him.

Have checked with NHS Direct (online) and they advise to speak to GP at my stage as it's to early for scan. guess I'll have to wait until Monday and phone him.

Thanks for your support, the ache has gradually got worse and there is now red blood so I think it's all over.

With me only being 5 weeks I don't know if it's a miscarriage or just a chemical pregnancy.

The spotting has continued on and off but went back to brown from the very scary red. Tummy still aching but not cramping.

Went to the out of hours clinic. GP was really supportive, checked for signs of an ectopic, but said there wasn't anything to do but sit and wait.

We're still going on holiday as DH can do everything and I can just relax. If the spotting continues GP has offered me a scan when I return so it's just crossed fingers now.

Thanks again for being so supportive, it's good to hear that some people can have a good outcome after bleeding.

I hope you're managing to relax on your holiday and that the bleeding has stopped. It's good that the GP was supportive and hopefully it reassured you a bit. I'll check in again at the end of the week and see how things are. Take care.

HazieDazieandBaby - thanks for you support and concern, sadly I lost the pregnancy on Wednesday at 5+6.

In a way I was quite lucky as the actual miscarriage wasn't that painful and I didn't need to go into hospital or anything.

I'm probably going to be staying off mumsnet for a while whilst we get our head round everything but hope to 'see' you around when we start ttc again.
