Hi Daynee

We have "spoke" before on the miscarriage board. You helped me with kind words after my 3rd miscarriage.

Firstly, I believe Congratulations are in order? I read on another thread you were on that you are on progesterone.

I have had all the tests done and they came back normal. I have a friend in Ireland that has had 4 miscarriages and is now 20 weeks pregnant and she firmly believes it was the baby asprin and progesterone that has helped her through the past couple of months.

I have spoke to my fertility consultant about progesterone on 3 seperate occassions and she said to me that there is no conclusive proof that progesterone helps maintain a pregnancy. She told me to take baby asprin the next time (please God). There seems to be more people on here with success stories on progesterone.

Were you given the Progesterone as standard or did you have to ask?? Are you UK based?

Hi amelied - Sorry - I haven't checked mumsnet lately. Turns out my BFP (which was actually just a very faint line) was most likely a chemical pregnancy or just a false positive - I don't know. At any rate, for this cycle I was put on clomid and did IUI. Although we can get preggers on our own, the doc said we could speed things up this way plus wash the sperm since my hubbie's sperm morphology is a tad low. Dear Lord - I hope this works and I hope this sticks!!

I am also confused about the progesterone but I figure with all the positive stories out there - there's gotta be something to it! I had to ask my prior doctor to prescribe it to me. She wasn't being proactive enough. Now I'm seeing a new doc and he put me on it automatically and also told me to take baby aspirin, which I think really helped my uterine lining this past cycle - it was really thick and in past cycles - it was pretty thin. So, it definitely depends on the doctor and what they think. I read that progesterone not only gives you the hormone you need but also creates a more "welcome" environment for the growing fetus and blocks some antibodies that could kill off the fetal tissue.

Anyway, I hope this helps. I am in the U.S. so I'm not totally sure the U.K. has a similar procedure for prescribing progesterone.

I am so sorry if I upset you - I did a quick "advanced search" before I sent the post and saw that everything was positive for you - I truly hope I havent upset you.

It seems that in the US and also in Ireland that progesterone is a given. Unfortunately my FC doesnt not here my plea.
