Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

What was this? Threatened miscarriage?

I have been wanting to post this for a while but have always hesitated but am now finding myself wondering more and more.

When I was 6 weeks pregnant with DS2 I experienced a huge bleed. When I went to the loo what I thought was a very large clot came out. I didn't want to look in the loo as I was a bit scared. NHS direct said this was probably a miscarriage. Two weeks of terrible sickness later I went to the locel EPU and had a scan which showed a strong heartbeat so DS2 had hung in there.

The Dr said my bleed was probably implantation bleeding and therefore a threaten miscarriage. My mum said it could have been a twin. I have not been able to get that out of my head now and am wondering if anyone has any ideas.

I don't understand "implantation bleeding and therefore a threaten miscarriage".

I have had quite heavy implantation bleeding with every pregnancy I've had (5). I have gone on to miscarry in 4 of those cases. I had never realised there was a link betweeen implantion bleeding and miscarriage though.

Are you sure about this?

Yes she definatly said that. I was advised to rest and to ring the EPU if anymore bleeding occured. She said all heavy blood loss in pregnancy could be classed as a threatened miscarriage.

Oh, well thanks for clarifying that. I am going to see a specialist on Thurs about my recurrent mcs, so I will definitely mention this.

It sounds in your case that it could have possibly been a twin, doesn't it? Very hard to say though.

my friend lost a twin during early pregnancy and they told her at the scan that it had happened, not sure how they could tell but they did so maybe they would have told you at the scan if that was the case.

I have now just googled and found this Think it explains why she classed it as a threatened miscarriage as it was very heavy loss?

i had this, all was ok in the end

Thanks - that's an interesting link. My implantation bleeding has aways been quite heavy. Usually lasts about 5 days and I've needed a mooncup.

I have just never realised before that this was something I should be worried about though.

Have you asked to look at your notes?
