Baby Aspirin

Hey all - I'm confused. I've had my homocysteine levels checked and they are normal. I do have MTHFR which means I need more folic acid and B12 and B6, and am taking an RX for that.

My doc said not to take the baby aspirin but I do know this is a matter of opinion. A different doctor may say to take it so I feel like it's really up to me!

I'm just wondering if anyone has taken baby aspirin even though homocysteine was normal. Is it totally safe to take or can it cause complications? And if I do take it, when should I start, and stop?

Thanks. I appreciate any feedback!

Check out, under Pregnancy: Baby Aspirin for the experience of others. Last post was 30 January. I'm on Aspirin and am now 24 weeks pregnant. My blood clotting tests came back normal, but my consultant told me to take it anyway up until 36 weeks. Good luck!

Hi Daynee,

All my tests have come back normal, but my consultant has put me on 100mg aspirin daily, to be taken in the morning. I started taking it during AF, and as this is the first cycle trying again we have yet to see if it helps.

I do know of some people who took aspirin without their doctors recommendation. The ones I heard of (on MN) I think went on to have successful pregnancies. I'm not sure of any potential complications, but if my consultant's happy for me to take them then I'm willing to try.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do x

Hi Daynee,
some consultants say they are safe to take whilst others say they are not. Unfortunately i still mc whilst taking them but some woman go on to have full term pregnancies. My consultant has now changed his mind and says that they interferre with implantation and not to use them but i've mc on and off the aspirin so am looking into immune issues such as nkcells etc...

Goodluck with what ever you decide to do though.
XXX.

I took baby aspirin on the advice of a consultant with DS1 and all was ok. I then had another 2 mc (2 before DS1) and hadn't taken it. However I did take it with the next pg and lost that one.

I was then referred to a recurrent miscarriage consultant who said that if I wanted to take it I could, it would do no harm but there was no reason to take it as my blood work didn't warrant it. I haven't taken it with this pg at all and am now 29 weeks. She said that the research on this point isn't anywhere near to being conclusive as to BA having a positive effect. All she would commit to is that it didn't have a negative effect. I've now taken it and had a successful pg and also mc. Not taken in and had mc but now seem to be successfully pg! No logic in that at all.
