Advice wanted - risk of mc after heartbeat seen at 7 weeks?

I had a mmc in september 08 and am now pregnant again, am 7+3 today.

Was lucky enough to have a reassurance scan at the EPAU today where i was treated for the mc, and amazingly, saw the bean with a heartbeat!

I now have to wait for my next scan which is at 12 weeks on 17th march. Now for the next 5 weeks, I know I'm going to stress myself out wondering whether the bean will survive until then.

Does anyone any experience of having a mc between 7-12 weeks or do you think I will be ok? I have heard that seeing the heartbeat is a very good sign...

from memory the statistics after a heartbeat is seen at the eight week stage are very, very positive - i think 95pc likely to go onto have a successful pregnancy. got a feeling the statistics aren't quite as good for a heartbeat seen at under eight weeks BUT will still be very high. i don't have a figure.
congratulations - wish i were in your shoes. very happy for you though!

I do think your chances of m/c have lowered a lot. Congratulations on your pregnancy!

I did have a scan at 8 weeks and then went on to m/c at 14 weeks but I was one of the small percentage unfortunately.

Hope all goes well for you.

I've been fretting myself as have had previous miscarriages and this time around saw a heartbeat at 5+6 - now 9 weeks and have no reason to believe it won't be ok but still fretting a lot. I found some research that said if a heartbeat is seen at 5-6 weeks the miscarriage rate is still 16% but if a heartbeat is seen at 7+ weeks, the risk goes down to 3%. Hope this helps!

I have heard that if you are really fretting at say 10 weeks then you can go to the EPU and they'll give you another scan. Obviously this does depend hospital to hospital...

I am already fixated with scans and haven't even ttc again yet but MMC I think makes you particularly paranoid. If your local EPU won't scan you in between and you still want another one then you can always slip in a cheeky private one. I have already eyed up the fetal medicine centre in London. I told you. Obsessed!!

Most important thing is - as they will have told you - little bean has got the right measurement and a strong heartbeat.

It's looking good sabs

sorry if I have just regurgitated what you already know

Hi

I am 10 + 4 today and also had a scan at 7weeks following brown spotting, we got to see the HB which was amazing after 2 previous MMC.

I know exactly how you are feeling I have been worried since that scan and you never know what to expect but I have been told the chances of another MMC is very low.
My scan is on Monday so I dont have too long left to wait. The time hasnt gone as slowly as I had expected, just try and think positively, keep your mind occupied, eat lots of nice food and rest as much as possible.

I hope all goes well for you xxx
