How long does HCG stick around post MC ?

Sitting here obsessing

MC Nov 11th @11+4

Sainsburys test with FMU 2 weeks later - Nov 25th - was a fairly strong positive

Sainsburys test with FMU 3 weeks after MC - Dec 2nd was virtually negative - if you were TTC and looking for a BFP, you'd find a faint line, but I was reasonably happy that the hormones had left the building and it was safe to TTC again

Today, I tested again with a Sainburys test - not quite FMU as I was up to wee at around 5am and tested when I finally got up at 9am - very very very faint BFP.

Stupidly tried again later today and got nothing - obv hormones too low for anything but FMU

Now, I KNOW that the only real answer is to test again in a couple of days with the same brand of test and see if the line gets darker. In reality, I'll probably weaken in the morning and use my fancy pants ClearBlue digital.

However - any thoughts as to whether this faint line is residual HCG from the MC or a new pregnancy ??

I don't know how long the hormones take to completely clear - was told at the EPU 48 hours after MC that the HCG levels were almost back to normal so don't understand why a PG test 2 and 3 weeks later showed positive anyway. ??

I don't know exactly when I ovulated as it was a wierd post MC cycle and I actually had light pink spotting for 8 days, finishing on Sunday. I am only testing because I am nauseous on and off, dog tired and keep having wierd itchy sensations in my nips. Don't know whether to get excited or not and it is driving me nuts !! Today could be 11DPO or 13DPO I think

Any thoughts on what this all means ??

thanks for reading if you get this far

Sounds like you could be pregnant but you said yourself the only way to know is to do another test in a few days. If its negative I would see GP again. Did you see a gyn doc during MC?

Hi

I had an internal examination to confirm the bleeding (pardon the pun) obvious, then a scan in the EPU 48 hours later where she could see "no signs of pregnancy" and said my HCG levels were very low. I've had no other follow-up ?

You should ask to be seen at a MC clinic. Take care

Hiya jinglejools i think hcg can be in your body for ages, as i had my m/c on the 4th nov, and 7 weeks later still getting a positive.

There was someone on here who was still having a + 4/5 weeks after her mc.
Me i didnt test, just waited till i had a period then timed from then on.
can hang around for ages i think.
symptoms could be period symptoms though couldnt they?

Hi

Tried again yesterday with a ClearBlue digi and got a BFN, so either the Sainsburys test was faulty or it was detecting absolutely miniscule levels of hormone from the miscarriage

I'm guessing that my wierd bleeding was an anovulatory cycle. Funnily enough, I still get very nauseous, so it must be a bug rather than PG related.

Today should be CD13 I think, so I would expect to ovulate in the next 3 days but have no fertile CM at the mo - will wait till next week and if it still looks like my cycle is screwed, I shall see a GP

Thanks for all your suggestions and advice
