Embarrassing question about post-erpc

I had an erpc last Tuesday and have some indelicate symptoms.

Over the past few days I've developed some really sharp pains associated with my bowels i.e. I get them when I need to fart or go to the loo . I remember these from after my emcs, and I had assumed then that they were due to my innards having been shifted around but this time there shouldn't have been any shifting involved so am a bit confused as to what is going on, especially since they've only arrived 3 or 4 days after the event. Does anyone have any similar experiences or ideas?

Hi

I had a natural miscarriage and noticed that for a while - felt like I needed to support my stomach with my hands when going to the loo, sneezing etc - and it was uncomfortable to sit down on anything hard - like the loo seat.

I put it down to things moving back into position plus, in my case, contractions and having to push the sac out

Hopefully yours is just that but always worth asking a GP I would have thought

I had exactly the same symptoms after my recent ERPC - they lasted a few days then disappeared.

Hi girls, just wondered if anyone could help me? I found out at my 12 week scan that I'd had a missed miscarriage at 6/7 weeks. I'd had no bleeding or anything, so it was a real shock. My hubby and are are both devastated, as it was my first pregnancy, but trying to get back to normal I chose to have a ERPC, which went ok. But two days after the op, I started to have really severe pain, accompanied by bleeding. Scan showed that I have a blood clot, hence the pain, and they said it will pass. But it hasn't yet, and I'm worried that my cervix has closed up. Has anyone had similar experience? They say there is no infection - just the clot causing the pain, due to contractions.

Hi Lippy1, sorry to hear your experience. Same thing happened to me in July with missed miscarriage, a real shock expecting to see a baby on the screen when there's actually not.
The clot will either pass on its' own or on your next period.
If you're otherwise feeling well then you shouldn't have an infection.
I realise that the womb has a mind of its' own and will do what it needs to do when it's ready so try not to worry.
If you still feel worried in a few days then there's no harm in going to your GP just to check.
These scans they use are very sensitive and if they were in any doubt they would have told you and helped you further.
Take Care xx

Thank you AuntyFlo, so did you have a ERPC? Was it all ok? How are you feeling after everything? Are you trying again? Was it your first pregnancy? x

Sorry Lippy1! Just read your reply! Hope you're ok?
Yes, I had an emergency ERPC in July as I'd lost alot of blood following mmc. All went smoothly apart from left sided abdo pain several weeks later which I panicked about because of the risk of infection but I have IBS (which can be triggered by emotion). Went to my GP and she sent me straight to hosp to see gynae team as a precuation. They checked me over, scan and physical internal, and all was fine.
I then had a 2nd m/c in November - my body recognised this one at 4-5 weeks.Have had a period since - 38 days after m/c started and was internally scanned twice to make sure the sac had gone etc.. I lost 20 clots but my body handled it well and the pain was less than my usual period!
They say I'm all normal inside - no problems and that it's just bad luck so we're now trying again.
Still paranoid about infection but the risk of infection after something like this is around 1 in 100. I felt very down initially esp with the hormones flying around but am now trying again and cautiously excited. Take Care xx
