How long did you experience pain for after ERPC ? Bit worried I may have an infection.

This might be a bit TMI....

Just wondering how long it is normal to feel pain in your cervix after an ERPC. It's now been 3 weeks and it's still a bit sore. Generally it's ok but definitely uncomfortable when bleeding. I suppose I'm worried that I might have developed an infection. Really don't want to go to GP and have yet another random stranger sticking their hands up my fango to take swabs etc. I had an infection after a previous m/c and it only became apparant after having sex. Ended up doubled up in pain and unable to move for half an hour. Not nice. Needless to say my DH has not had a look in recently.

(Feel like a seasoned MNer now I've finally got around to using the word fango.)

I didn't have any pain afterwards

I think you're going to have to brave the GP

Thanks for replying TheBlonde. Really, really, really don't want to see GP. Was rather hoping others would tell me it was all normal and not to worry.

Anyone else?

Did they give you antibiotics following the ERPC?

I also didn't have any pain at all...
Mine was done at 14 weeks if that helps.

VickyJane77 · 04/11/2008 20:28

Sorry neolara I had no pain either, but it does say in the take home leaflets that if you have any pain go and see your doc....looks like you'll have to be brave and get it checked out.

Bugger. Looks like I'll have to make an appointment then. I suppose it's better to be safe than sorry.

I didn't get any antibiotics at the time so infection more likely I guess.

Thanks to all who replied and sorry for all of your losses.

I had one at 12 weeks, didn't get any pain either.

Think it very important you see someone asap. They may not need to examine you.

Hi neolara, I have had 3 ERPC's and pain with all of them, it got worse each time I had one but the pain was stomach cramping not cervix and I had it on and off for 2 weeks or so. I would think if you do visit your GP he would offer antibiotics just in case as the first step rather than 'hands up the fango' but if it is an infection you dont want to let it run riot as it could cause problems in the future. I totally understand why you dont want to be prodded around any more but be safe as you'll need all your bits and pieces in good healthy working order for that successful pregnancy in the future. sx

I was brave and went to GP. Am now sitting here with a mountain of antibiotics in front of me. Thanks for persuading me to go.
