Can long AF after MC delay ovulation?

I had MC on 30th Aug (8+4)and bled for 2 weeks. Bleeding stopped for a week then what I hoped was normal period started on 23rd Sept. My periods normally last 4 days but I'm still bleeding today albeit very very minor brown discharge.

Can a longer post MC period delay ovulation? I use the ovulation sticks (they have worked for me bang on for both DS and last pg) and had diaried to start using them last Thurs as that was my 'old' day 11 (I have a short 27 days cycle)but I just feel my body is way off from ovulating.

Don't want to use sticks every day as they are expensive but don't want to miss my 'window' this month as DH and me are keen to try again.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I had a missed mc and ERPC (two ERPCS in fact) in September and am waiting for my first period. I've been told that it can take a while for ovulation and the menstrual cycle to settle down to a recognisable pattern, and that this can be different from how it used to be in the 'old' days before the mc. Have also been told that the first period after the mc can be heavier or longer than usual, which seems to be what you're experiencing now.

It may well be that your ov date is slightly delayed this month. I took the day of my first ERPC as cd1, and have just ovulated on cd24, whereas cd17 would have been normal for me before the mc. Am curious to see what will happen in the next month. I bought inexpensive lab OPKs in a multipack of 30 on the internet, by the way. Good luck with your testing! x

VillageMum - I've seen you on other threads and hope your doing OK too (I optimistically have the knicker checkers thread on watch..). Feel I tempted fate by joining the Ante Natal thread - will full profile to boot! I may lie low next time around (fingers crossed if there is one).

BeHereNow - I'm with you - excited at the thought of trying again but terrified too. Losing your baby at 12 weeks must have been very hard.

Better shoot, DS is in bath (watched by DH) and is getting all wrinkly!

bluesatinsash - go for it! I've tentatively joined the TTC in October thread, though it'll be late October or early November before I'll be at that point, all being well of course. One can only hope... Best of luck to you and let us know how it goes if you feel able and ready!

hi i had miscarriage in end of aug, and was on knicker checkers etc. I had my first period about 18 days ago and am trying to get my head aroud thinking about trying to conceive again, i am so worried hows everyone else feel about trying again, and n e one know wot odds r it will happen again?x

maz, hi. I'm partly just terrified of ttc again and of being pg again, partly hopeful. I think having a mc takes away your innocence about pregnancy forever. If this was your first mc then apparently the odds of it happening or not happening again are exactly the same as they were before - ie having had one sporadic mc doesn't raise the odds at all. I can really recommend a book called 'Miscarriage: What Every Woman Needs to Know' by Lesley Regan - it's incredibly reassuring and takes a lot of the mystery out of the experience of mc. Hope you are feeling OK. x

I'm trying to be positive and back up VillageMum's stats on chances of MC happening again if it's your first one are the same as if you have never had one.

I've found reading these threads so comforting as I don't want to talk about all my fears and hopes in RL (other than with DH).
