I am not sure why I am posting, maybe just to acknowledge that I was pregnant and carried a baby for a while. I’ve had a very tough couple of weeks. First my brother then my mum got admitted to hospital where they still are. I went for my 12 week scan on Monday to be told the baby was measuring 11 weeks and had some problems. So I had an appointment with a specialist this morning to find out the heartbeat had stopped. I’ve had 2 MMCs before I had my son so I always go in expecting the worst. Although part of me thought I’m due a bit of good luck but it wasn’t to be.

I’m going medical management this time. I asked what to bring on the day of the misoprostol and the nurse said an overnight bag with enough for 2 nights. Surely that’s excessive?

I'm so sorry for your loss. I had a medical miscarriage at the hospital this week. I was admitted on Wednesday morning and discharged from the hospital last night.

I'd definitely pack an overnight bag as the hospital has advised you. I'm glad I did with the amount of time I was in there, so me and DH had a spare change of clothes, snacks and fizzy drinks etc. I was especially glad we had taken more drinks as the nurses were caught up for quite a while with an emergency. I didn't expect to be in there so long but I ended up doing rounds of misoprostol every 3-4 hours. The main pregnancy had passed within about 5 hours but I continued to lose more pregnancy tissue after that, so they wanted to make sure it had mostly passed before sending me home. They really looked after me though and were happy to give me stronger pain meds when the codeine and suppository was no longer enough.

Again, I'm so sorry you're going through this OP x
