Has anyone used a Mooncup for a miscarriage?

I know that you're not supposed to use tampons when you're miscarrying because of the risk of infection. But I am wondering about using my Mooncup. Surely if it's sterile, and my hands are clean when I insert and remove it, then there is no chance of an infection, is there? And Mooncups have never been associated with Toxic Shock Syndrome either, so as far as I am concerned they are really safe.

Has anyone used one OK for a mc? Do you think I could?

I bled far too much, passing large (>5cm) clots & was in agony. There's no way my mooncup could've coped with it (I spent most of the time just bleeding into the toilet) nor could I have coped with having anything in my vagina.

Hmmm, hadn't thought of that. My previous mc took about two weeks and wasn't too full-on; just a few ten pence sized clots and some medium-heavy bleeding.

This one has grown to a larger size than my last one, though, and even though it's a blighted ovum, so there's no foetus to pass, it may be heavier than before.

StheGoat - I'm 8 weeks, but it's a blighted ovum. A week ago it was 20mm in size.

try it but keep some pads handy incase it doesn't work out.

so sorry to hear about your mcs. how are you?

Oh, I'm pretty OK with it all. Have had almost a week to get used to the news. Just got to get the yucky physical part over with now. I've only had a little bit of brown discharge so far, but I think it's on its way.

Hi, Sorry to hear about your loss. I have just had an ectopic. I thought I had my period when I started bleeding so used mooncup as normal. When i found out it was pregnancy loss I panicked re: infection, but EPAS nurse said that lots of people mistakenly use tampons etc and risk of infection is v low. However, she did tell me to use pads from then on & mooncup website does say not to use one after giving birth so wonder if advice would be transferred? Hope you feel better soon.
