First Miscarriage with third baby conceived after 3 missed periods. Has anyone had a successful pregnancy after this?

Hi everyone,

I’m posting here because I’m feeling a bit lost and hoping to connect with anyone who has been through a similar situation.

Last week, I sadly suffered my first miscarriage which was a complete miscarriage at 10/11 weeks. I already have two beautiful children (aged 6 and 3) and we are trying for our third. Before conceiving, I completely missed three periods in a row. I am 35 and we were actively trying to conceive during those missed cycles as I hadn't been given advice to stop and I ended up getting pregnant during that time around April 12th I conceived.

Now that the pregnancy has ended after spending endless hours googling; I figure that the delayed ovulation/sluggish cycle likely caused a chromosomal anomaly, which is why the baby stopped developing this is also more likely to happen when you are 35 too so I think that was the cause for the miscarriage.

I have a GP appointment on Tuesday to check physical recovery and I’m going to push them to run a baseline hormone panel (FSH, LH, Thyroid) because of the 3 missed periods before the pregnancy. We also plan to see a private consultant after my first normal period post miscarriage for an AMH/egg reserve test to see what we are dealing with. Tuesday would have been my 12 week scan date when we would have told people. I am heartbroken and also terrified of it happening again as is my husband.

I am going to wait for my first natural period to arrive before we try again so that we can get these hormone tests done accurately first.

I just really want to know if anyone else has been in a similar position—missing multiple periods, having a miscarriage and then going on to have a successful, healthy pregnancy? If you did, did you ever find out why your cycles skipped beforehand, and what did you do or take to achieve your successful pregnancy after the loss?

Just looking for some hope and shared experiences. Thank you and I’m sorry for your loss(es) no one should have to go through this xx
