Have I actually had a miscarriage?

Hello,

Feeling a mix of emotions right now and hoping I can hear if anyone has been through something similar.

At 5w5d I had heavy bleeding. I did not have any pain, dizziness or miscarriage symptoms at all. I had my HcG levels checked and it was around 10023. The doctors said that I may be having a miscarriage and when I passed two large blood clots the next day, I put it down to that. I had an ultrasound the next day (5w6d) and the lady said they couldn’t see anything.

I was nausea for the following week and a half after that and still had some bleeding.

Now, 2 weeks since the miscarriage, I took a pregnancy test and the test came up with an immediate, very strong positive line. I would’ve thought that this line would’ve become more faint two weeks later and I really hope they got it wrong?..

Have I actually had a miscarriage?

It’s hard to say. You need a scan - can you get to your local early pregnancy unit? I bled heavily in miscarriages and with my successful pregnancy. I bled heavily on and off from 7-11 weeks.

it’s usually 2-3 weeks before tests return to negative but retained tissue could cause a continued positive. Either way a scan would tell you.

good luck. I went through this myself a number of times and know how hard it can be xx

When I had a mc at 6 weeks, I had strong positives for over 5 weeks, at which point I stopped testing.
It takes a while for the HCG to drop I’m afraid.
So sorry you are going through this, but if nothing was seen on a scan -assuming transvaginal-then I wouldn’t think you have mc. Flowers

Sorry you’re going through this OP, I agree you need another scan. Your HCG levels can take a long time to drop and so you could still be testing positive after a miscarriage x

It was actually only a pelvic ultrasound! I’m going to get a transvaginal next week for confirmation.
