Awful cramping but no bleeding yet

Hello,

Im writing for some support. I’ve recently undergone fertility treatment and transferred our last embryo. Had a positive test last week at both 13 and 15 dpt. I took another pregnancy test this morning and it was clearly positive- no darker then last week but almost the same darkness as the control. Felt a bit off after waking up, cramping and fatigue. It got worse as the day went on to the point this afternoon I was doubled over in bed and called 111. They sent me to urgent care at A&E and they examined me. Did two pregnancy tests on my urine which were negative ( I had just chugged a bottle of water but still I was shocked after having the positive this morning). No sign of any infection. Paracetamol took the edge off a bit but the pain is still very strong, almost like early labour pains. They did a blood test and my HCG levels were ‘high’ at 17896. They’ve sent me home and said to come back if the pain gets worse and have booked me in for a scan at the EPU tomorrow. I still have not had any bleeding yet. I can only think this is my body preparing to miscarry or an eptopic pregnancy. I’m devastated but also very confused about the two negative tests at hospital but positive at home this AM and blood tests. Has anyone else experienced anything like this or had really severe cramps for awhile before bleeding?

I had ‘period pain’ at around the time my period was due and a positive test. I was sure I was miscarrying. Then I bled a bit (one sanitary towel). Then it stopped. The ‘baby’ is now 11. The docs best guess was implantation pain and bleeding. I hope it is similar for you. I think it only lasted a day or two. Weirdly I didn’t get anything like it for my next 2 pregnancies.

I had absolutely horrendous lower abdominal cramping in the early stages of my first pregnancy, but with no associated bleeding. I was in and out of hospital with no identified cause. She’s now a healthy 4 year old. I also had fairly bad cramping (no bleeding) in the early stages of my subsequent 2 pregnancies. My middle pregnancy ended up being a miscarriage, but the heartbeat and growth didn’t stop until weeks after the cramping had settled, so unrelated. My last pregnancy (again lots of cramping in the early weeks) is now a sleeping 3 month old in my lap.

my uterus just contracts in the early stages of pregnancy, but for me, no matter how severe, it has never caused any harm beyond pain and anxiety, and eventually settled after a couple of weeks. I hope that proves to be the case for you too. Best of luck.

Thanks for your replies @pbdr @Luckyforsome23 I’m glad it was okay for you both. The pain is just so severe I can’t do much but lay in bed with a hot water bottle and it’s been like this all day. It’s hard to imagine that this could be anything but bad news but I won’t give up hope. I’ve had a miscarriage previously and cramps weren’t this bad, but was accompanied by bleeding.
