TTC after a miscarriage

Hello, we got pregnant straight away with our first child and second pregnancy but then I had a natural miscarriage with our second pregnancy at 8 weeks. It has now been 3 months and we have been TTC. Anyone else found it takes longer to get pregnant after a miscarriage?

I have had 4 pregnancies

  1. 4 months to conceive - baby girl
  2. 2 months to conceive - miscarriage 10 weeks
  3. 3 months to conceive - miscarriage 10 weeks
  4. 3 weeks to conceive - baby boy

I'd say that 3 months is still well within normal times to conceive 3-6 months is fairly typical and up to 12 months can be normal

Thank you, that’s really helpful. Did you do ovulation sticks or any testing during your cycle?

It can be so difficult - up to 12 months is considered totally normal, but I appreciate that doesn't make it easy! I've had 5 pregnancies, first took 2.5 years, after that was
6 months
9 months
6 months
3 months
All using ovulation testing throughout (except the start of the first one). Sadly we haven't had a pregnancy go to term yet, and the waiting between cycles is horrible, but nothing to worry about as such. Hopefully it happens again for you soon x

No we just had regular sex, probably a few times a week. I always said I wouldn't start tracking and targeting sex with fertile windows until 4 months if TTC. I'm prone to being obsessive so didn't want to start like that

Hi I had a MMC of twins at 9weeks in April. My cycle took a few months to settle. I was very disheartened as I read so many stories of being super fertile following MC. I have just tested positive last night. TBH the past month I felt more “myself” for example CM returned I actually had a migraine for the first time in months last month which was normal around the time of my period. I went to the GP and they told me it can take 12months for things to settle properly. I was having random spotting every months following MC also.

I'm 4 weeks post miscarriage and I've still not ovulated. It's mentally stressing me out, I'm testing lh twice a day and they're faint. I just want my cycle to start again. I'm wondering whether to go for a private scan to check everything out and see whats happening in there - although this is probably ott is it? 😂 I'm so so desperate to start trying again.

@Fridayschild25 I didn't ovulate after 2 of mine until my period came back 5-6 weeks later (2 of them I did ovulate around 3 weeks after).

Fridayschild25 · 02/10/2025 15:31

@Moosey898 thank you so much for responding. How far along were you for yours? Mine was 12w gestation, baby stopped growing around 9w.

Were you testing after your miscarriages? I'm really struggling mentally and I've gone through so many lh tests. Im searching for the tiniest bit of cm too, there are no symptoms. I think my body tried to ovulate when I had hcg in my system, maybe it won't ovulate now.

Moosey898 · 02/10/2025 15:36

@Fridayschild25 nearly 12 weeks, 2 x 10 weeks and one at 8 weeks. In each case baby was measuring 10-14 days smaller.
Yeah I tested ovulation as soon as I had a negative pregnancy test. I was told I wouldn't ovulate until all HCG was gone but I've never looked into if that's true or not! My CM was also definitely messed up compared to normal cycles. It got back to normal after a couple of cycles though x
