CMV Primary Infection and Miscarriage

Recently had a miscarriage after contracting cmv in march. Want to start ttc again but am being told to wait at least 6 months. Is there anyone out there that has been through this before or able to advise me on their own experiences if any....
Currently, blood results show the presence of both IgG and IgM...can anyone help?

Hi Waiting2Exhale, I'm so sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I don't have any experience with cmv, I just know that I don't have immunity from it and so have to be really careful. I hope someone comes along soon who can help.

my only experience of CMV is that dh donor had it and he had to to have some seriously strong drugs for 3months after transplant, as dh is immunosuppressed.

hope soemone knows about CMV in pregnancy soon who can help.

Still hopeful someone will come to me resuce with answers who have been through the same thing

Local docs much use ... may have to see a specialist to get the answers I need before ttc again.

Sorry to hear about your miscarriage. All I know about cmv infection, and it's not a lot, is that it is a common cause for babies being born deaf if their mother caught the infection for the first time whilst pregnant. As far as I am aware (and I am by no means knowledgeable) cmv is only a risk to an unborn baby if the mother catches it for the first time during pregnancy, after that the mother should be immune and will not have any risk of passing it on to their unborn baby. It sounds like the docs are saying that your infection is still active iyswim as your levels show you are fighting an infection. I would imagine they are saying to wait so that there is no risk of passing this on in any future pregnancies.
